idk, to me it seems more like cerberus was shocked that he was getting thrown under the bus. besides it's not like cerberus has to go in with kalego so i'm 100% certain he was just making excuses to not go in.

but the shocked effect is above his head so i don't think he's that afraid. kalego might unexpectedly be afraid of ghosts himself. also weren't summons based on a demon's personality? so shouldn't that mean that anything the summon fears might also be something the summoner fears?

Remember, Kalego saw the full, original Galna before the Battler Party. Taking that in to account, it certainly looks like a "nah, I'm good." using Cerberus as an excuse.

ETA it could also be that seeing Galna left Cerberus shook.

In 218-219 we are told Cerberus is not a familiar, it is the manifestation of Kalego's Bloodline(?) Magic. It's also why he can't just leave Cerberus behind. And it was addressed that Kalego can't even have a familiar since Cerberus chases them away.
