Of course, Iruma isn't human. Such innocent, pure, nice and in general holy people simply don't exist. I'd rather believe that somewhere in the world there's a school where students enslave each other through high-stakes gambling or are transported into parallel fantasy worlds after being hit by a serial killer in a truck.

Ameri's mother is probably a deity. Ameri said a few chapters back that the those flowers only grow in the land of the deities.

It could be that her mom was a Deity who used to sneak into the human world. Demons are not permitted to go into the human world, but that was never stated to be the case for Deities.

t would explain how she got into the human world and back because from what we've seen travelling into the human world and back has only been done by Sullivan, a powerful demon, I don't know how a human would be able to do it, and would also lead to her running afoul of Henri since he would be trying to enforce Border Patrol duties.

So here is my going theory based on this chapter:

As much as I was on the Ameri is half human train, the fact they are dragging all this up without just end of chapter "btw she is human lol" tells me she isn't. Ameri's mom is most likely a Deity. Azazel was probably assigned to her for one reason or another, they got close, but because of the hierarchy that was made clear between demons and deities, it was a type of star crossed lovers event.

Where else could star crossed lovers meet? Why, the inbetween zone of course. Demons can't get their normally, so that's where the 2 could meet up and not be restricted by the class system in place. She probably went to and from the human world a bunch, which is where she got all those manga books - Ill add more to this in a moment, cause of something mentioned REALLY early in the series.

After she got pregnant and they were caught. She probably made a deal, so Azazel wouldn't be killed or something, so she had to go back to wherever the deities live forever and never see him again. After Ameri was born, the other deities probably threw her to him cause she is a "half breed" or something stupid, so Azazel has to raise her on his own, while mentioning she died to illness to Ameri. He only is bringing it up to her now, because of the incident, as well as protect her from trying to investigate on her own to figure out the truth.

Now the moment I mentioned - those Mangas that Ameri has in the student council office, are probably gifts from her mother was giving to Ameri over the years, but in order to protect both of them Azazel tells her they are "secret tomes" or whatever. The reason I believe this is because of Iruma - he worked on this series when he was in the human world as one of the artists while being a slave to his parents. Iruma is a year younger than Ameri so that means her mother is still alive, still cares about her and somehow sends these to her as a way to show her love, although Ameri most likely would have never known they came from her.

Since Demon Border Patrol knows about the existence of humans and even has and act to deal with them then I dont think it would be too crazy to think that the human world has somenthing similar maybe Merize was part of a human group in charge of relations between demons and humans and when Henri assumed the Chief possition he was able to meet her, they fell in love, she got pregnant whit Ameri and to prevent a scandal between the groups they decided that Ameri was going to live with her father and Merize had to leave her position... I know it sound silly but who nows...

If she IS human, then theres a chance Iruma could get sick by staying in the netherworld too long, as it isn't meant for humans Hopefully that doesnt happen though
