I feel this chapter was to explain how he got his behavior.
He was pressured by society (expected of Japan's work society) and thus he lashes it onto her.
It makes me see where he got it from but more importantly, it does not mean she has to forgive him. Like at all. He may be right in saying he probably "loved" her but probably the fact that she's comfortable to him because she comforts him away from that pressure, which leads to him saying "she's easy" because she won't expect anything from him compared to the society.
And thus this brings me joy that she still rejects him after all of that. She's not swayed by it and rightfully rejects him

And this chapter may seem like they're trying to have you sympathize with him, but he still does not respect her boundaries by guilt tripping her into saying she's wrong for rejecting him AND trying to kiss her without consent! (He's still a sh*tty b*stard through and through with that mask) So good job in the rejection!
(Like everyone said, it'd be nice if she pushed him off the broom but that's a little too OOC for her, especially since she's already developing so well from her shell)
