Pipes have existed since when people first found tobacco (a whole lotta years before the year 25xx ー which would be the 26th century.) Also, I don't think you meant 26th century, but I have NFI what century you meant...
Regardless, even if it was the Middle ages, pipes DEFINITELY existed back then.....

Tobacco was first introduced to Europe in the 16th century, coming back over from the Americas, and while pipe smoking was more popular in England and Spain, it is not outlandish to think that France would have them as well.
