@Tamerlane I was assuming it wasn't a Brit in Japan, but rather the witch in Britain. Although Japan and Britain were allied in WW1, so it wouldn't be impossible for a British guy to be in Japan. You're right about the plane being too modern though, most WW1 planes were open cockpit (fun fact: "bombing runs" in WW1 basically consisted of chucking hand grenades out of the plane while flying low).

Also, I think "single" in this case means "unmarried", not "never dated"

It was established she moved to Japan slightly before the Meiji period, though Japan was only technically part of the allies as it allowed them to expand their imperial influence across the Pacific, as there was little direct interaction with them and the main fronts of the war in Europe and the Middle East. @Xitel

To add more specifics to how the fuck is a WWII aircraft participating in The Great War (WWI), the plane looks like a mash-up of a Fw 190 interceptor, Bf 109 fighter, and a P-47 fighter. These were all WWII aircraft, with the:

• Front of the windshield looking very much like an early/mid Bf 109 or Fw 190
• The rear of the windshield looking very much like a late war P-47
• The engine cowling coming straight out of a P-47
• Wing position of a Fw 190
• Gun positions pretty much exactly of a Fw 190 (early one probably)
• Drop/belly tank from either a P-47 or Fw 190 (all P-47 belly tanks from my knowledge had attachment points like the ones pictured, but due to the camera perspective, it could also be a Fw 190 belly tank if the rail it attaches to is hidden by the fuselage)
• The propeller size is more akin to the Fw 190, although this isn't too particularly unique

I'm kind of surprised that they just took two or three planes and just mashed them together, that they actually had references and such.
