@KINGwaldo I mean I don't disagree but wasn't the point that specifically plant witches get fucked by touching the hunters? Which, well, there's only one of them so far, other witches can touch hunters more but also find it unpleasant or something.

I actually like that because it's such a "oh shit" moment that raises a lot of questions about how this is going to unfold. Currently, the chaotic netural witch hunter is the wild card that could really fuck everything over. It does light a flame under the hero's asses as it means they really can't catch a breath and hide out indefinitely and it really makes every potential interaction between this hunger and the witches more intense as it means he can use them for whatever he wants.

And there is definitely some, for lack of a better term, rape-y undertones to the situation that makes the horror so much more intense. I dread to think what will happen when the other witches see her in the hunter's garb or what will happen when her boyfriend finds her in this state...

The author has no idea how torture and abuse actually affect people. It makes the characters less believable, more like caricatures than human beings.

I'm not going to judge if other people like the fantasy of controlling someone through torture, however unrealistic it is, but for people who have gone through abuse in their personal lives, you might understand that it is deeply unpleasant.

All I want to know is a chapter number for when Soramine gets her freedom back, and I can pick the manga back up then. If the answer is "never," then I'd be much obliged to know in advance.

I thought it wasn't the torture that broke he but that it was a side effect of the heart-medicine he gave her.

He says that he didn't even seal her consciousness, so it implies she's still in there, but the drug he gave her made her body subservient to him. It's not Soramine breaking to his will under the conditioning; it's him using other means to put her under his control.
