＠xenos The translation this time around was a bit of a mess but this is what I understood from looking over the raws.

Basically, it seems that William's dad is one of those guys who justified competence over everything else and probably thought everyone who was incompetent is just useless. Cue William saying that just having people by your side makes them of worth and irreplaceable. This is where Syril says that William's statements are hollow since they're just a reflection of William hating the way his father thinks. Syril then posits that there are many idiots (bandits) who just eat up the resources of the world and even other idiots who drag down others because they're either incompetent or selfish. Cyril then asks william if they're dragging him down/are they suitable for him. William's conflicted since laughing it off and saying there's now way they're unsuitable would just seem hollow to Cyril again and not saying anything would be like agreeing with Cyril's statements which are very similar to his dad's statements that he despises. William realizes that agreeing/disagreeing with his dad is a stupid way of thinking and just wants his irreplacable friends by his side no matter what and starts to awkwardly convey this to cyril.

tldr: william brain hardwired to think opposite of dad; cyril wants william to think genuinely instead of being imprisoned by dad's ideologies
