It's way too rare for someone to just reject these stupid bets.
IKR. It's like JP authors are incapable of driving plot. So they stage these absurd "bets" their characters are too stupid to interest balance. As a contrived mechanism to drive events forward, and inject artificial drama.

My bet: 25c. Your bet: eternal slavery.
JP Author/MC: WOW HOW COULD I LOSE?

The whole point of a "bet" is obtaining something of equal or greater value, and willing to place stakes on that. Author here tries playing that off as "noble's pride", or "avoiding entanglement". But someone who tries kidnapping people in a bar an assaulting women has no pride. Like trying to negotiate with terrorists.

I'm a bit sick of this braindead trope already.

Why would Cecilia be OK with that bet? If her side loses, she gets thrown away. If her side wins, she gets replaced. It's a lose/lose for her

Damn this manga is so much better in like every way than most isekai garbage. Characterization is so natural and not forced, and the comedy bits and callbacks are great. Also just fun transitions between deformed and detailed art styles to show and not tell the tone of scenes, and good action flow. The MTL ain’t bad either, especially with the scanlator putting in the work to edit things, huge respect for that!
Yeah, can't agree more. The characterization is so good with them being able to naturally flow into comedic moments before returning on topic. They're all built with more depth than you'd expect and the nuanced conversations really adds to it. Like last chapter shows that so much with Satsuki being in a bad mood from last chapter, then starting this chapter with Cyril talking with Will to understand where Satsuki was coming from, resulting into Will talking a bit about his past revealing a new side of himself. It displays so much of the bonds built within the party in such a natural layered way. It's so uncommon compared to something like dramatically writing out a chapter about a defining moment to explain why "X trusts Y" (the big ol' "show don't tell" ig).

Also for recent chapters and the B-rank antagonists: the story has repeatedly gone out of its way to have things be deeper than face value and subvert tropes.

I’m just saying trust the author, because they are good at building expectations and giving a surface characterization so they can complicate it later.
I think that assessment is a fair one lol. With how the story continually surprises me with its writing quality I'd like to see it surprise me again xd.

If she was sane, she wouldn't be partying with that guy in the first place.
But yes, I must say I do not understand her at all.

One of the main reasons I read the manga. Less of those forced and typical comedy moments, and more of that casual smugness and friendly ribbing. And the kind of conversations that show that they care about each other, rather than just commenting on the plot, on other characters, or trying to force their views on others (especially in harem stories where they all fight about the MC).

If she was sane, she wouldn't be partying with that guy in the first place.

Maybe she's seen things about him we haven't, or he's done things for her we don't know about. He doesn't seem like a complete asshat, so it's possible. I mean, I wouldn't hold my breath too long, but I'm also not going to judge him out entirely. Yet.

So we can see this chapter
That Glenn reacts to will's name. it's shown later that knew/saw Will when he played with Eileen as kids and seeing them together had a large impact on his life. Cecilia also has silver hair just like Eileen implying that's his unrequisited love.

This series has quite a lot of fun details and foreshadowing. Love that.

I don't really want the women, but I want the cat.
I'm going to squist those paw pads until I'm satisfied.

It was already mentioned, but yes, he wanted them to bet their women, not bet on them. I can see how it could be confusing since "bet" is a verb and a noun, and it could also sound like he wants to make a bet with the women as a participating party, since they are sentient beings, not bet with them like one does with money. Maybe you could have used the word "wager" alongside it. It's a synonym with the same problem of also being a verb and a noun, but it can indicate that two different meanings are meant when both are used in the same sentence. Something like: "Let's make a bet and wager our women."

What a pathetic girl... Now I don't feel as bad for her since she chose to be with that gross guy. Seems she just likes to be seen like a piece of meat.
