why not upload the chapter like some of the official publishers do, as a redirect to your website?
it's easier for us to track + you will get more visitors

Hey! The rules in the screenshot states that "permanently withholding" chapters is not allowed. So the group did nothing wrong.

Also, if what you're saying is true and they have .1 and .2 already translated, then they're most likely trying to finish translating the entire chapter (3 parts) before uploading, which makes the uploader a complete asshat.
My thought as well. Also, I suspect the rule might be more meant to punish people for, say, uploading every other chapter, rather than just for being a few ahead on their personal site, reading between the lines a bit. If so, it's not well phrased, because it would cover chapters uploaded early to a group's own site when read entirely literally. But I don't think they're trying to ban that sort of thing, since it's so common. So I'm guessing it's meant for other shenanigans.

Plus, looking at their posting history for this series, the main group may have been about to upload this themselves anyway. While they haven't been on this series long enough to built a solid pattern, the gap between the last chapter and the one prior to it was two months. That might be their planned upload schedule. If so, this was a very premature gesture.

There's also groups like Galaxy Degen Scans where they'll upload the first half or so of a manga to Mangadex or post the first 5-10 chapters, then lock everything else behind their Patreon paywall until they dump several chapters at once as soon as someone else starts translating it to scare off the "sniper". I've seen them withhold the last 3 chapters of a 10-chapter series for 4 years before someone else posted a quick MTL of chapter 8 and then they suddenly dumped the rest of it a few hours later.

Geez. I knew about their tendency to horde chapters, but I didn't think they were that egregious about it. That definitely seems like something Mangadex would want to crack down on. On the other hand, they don't seem to be all that good at enforcing it. On the other-other hand, at least we know exactly how to get GDS to post what they've hoarded.

Speaking of which, I did some digging on Nyanu, comparing their uploads here and on their website. They're behind on uploading pretty much everything they have to Mangadex, by about four or five chapters in 3/5 cases. They do seem to be updating most of their series regularly, monthly or every couple of months, which puts them slightly ahead of GDS. But there's at least one series that hasn't been updated here in five months, while they have something like five chapters on their website. The only series more up-to-date than Losing Heroines had the last two chapters uploaded by someone independent. Take that as you will.

That said, they did exactly what I was talking about with Chapter 17. It was uploaded in two parts on their website, but only one part here, which came out when they released 18.1 on their website (September 23rd). So it seems like they might be keeping a full chapter gap...except 18.2 came out on November 3rd (which is a pretty massive gap between it and 18.1). It could be this is a three-parter, since this series has those. They also uploaded 14, 15, and 16 in a batch, three days before it came out on their site (which either got updated last August, or only existed since then, because everything uploaded onto it dates back to August). But then there was a 3 month gap between that batch and the prior one, which was done in pieces...it's an erratic mess, and I can't really figure out any specific pattern to their uploads as a result.

All that said...Nyanu actually did a collab with GDS. Who may be doing pretty much exactly what you described. Though, as the chapters of that particular series aren't on Nyanu's site, I can't say for sure if they actually finished it. I've done enough Internet sleuthing for the moment, so I'll leave that to someone else to figure out, if they feel like doing it. While I really dislike guilt by association, I feel like it's also something I shouldn't avoid mentioning. Especially when it seems to have been one of their first projects.

TL;DR, they might be trying to release only full chapters, and this series just has a low priority, or they might be hoarding chapters. Evidence is inconclusive in this case, but they do seem to be doing it on at least one other series. Make up your own minds on the subject.

I'll ask then; what counts as 'permanent'? : )
If a group doesn't upload their chapters for a year but they upload it after 1 year and 1 month, its not permanent anymore, so when do we draw the line?
If they can upload separate parts on their site then they can upload separate parts here. I think 2 months is already long enough time to consider it hoarding, so I dont think there was any rudeness about it.

For some reason can't comment in this forum anymore, so I'll edit this message, answering to chilzhul:

All the more reason to upload the parts. 1 full chapter takes so much time they upload every few months, what u even mean instead 🤨💀 Sorry not everyone likes reading a chapter every 2-3 months, and you can't give scanlation groups the benefit of the doubt and not think they just want people to go on their website to read for some sort of ad revenue.

Also when I said nothing rude I meant the upload itself. Its fair for someone to feel frustrated after seeing how the chapters are stacking up on their site but are not uploading anywhere else. Obviously threatening the group isn't the way to go though, that part was rude.
(+ the part about how there was malice behind the upload just cause the year is about to end is a big stretch, so I won't even comment on that)

Anyhow, I know people hate when a chapter is split into parts, but they all have the option to not read it and wait for the full chapter, on the other hand not everyone can keep up with a manga every 2 months or so (or what, those people are the bad ones and should be forced to use a different site to read just to not forget about a manga?)

Plus I said what I said, there is no good time interval what's considered to be 'permanent'. Sniping usually has an unwritten time limit of 2-3 months, going off of that is a good idea here too, or else anyone can claim oh they meant to upload while never uploading. Aaaalso, judging by what the others said (I didn't check it myself, nor read this chapter), the group has already finished translating the full chapter, no? The uploader just didn't upload the full, but neither did the group itself.

Nothing rude about it? This entire upload was an attack to the group. What do you mean?

Also 2 months is already a long time enough to consider? The raw chapter releases every two weeks. I don't know how many parts is Chapter 18 divided to, but Chapter 19 released at the span of 2 months since it was cut into 4 parts. Add to the fact that the year is about to end (everyone, both working people and students, are 300 times more busy than usual) Are you really saying there was no malice behind this upload?

@2blueuzumaki Please do not add any extra pages if you are not a part of the scanlation group.

MangaDex Rule 3.2.4

  1. If you are not part of the scanlation group, do not alter the release you are uploading by any means.

I've removed the call out page you added. You can upload their chapters as long as their upload permissions are open, but do not add extra pages like this. Also, they aren't permanently withholding their chapters. They've consistently uploaded chapters here every month or so. Plus, as mentioned earlier their group uploads are open. Anyone can upload their chapters for them like you did.

Edit: Please don't screenshot the pages on their site. You can properly rip them by zooming in 100%, shift + right click to bypass the right click block, and save the image. I've replaced the lower resolution screenshots you took of their chapter.

You are basicly right, but this chapter is only the 2 parts, so the uploader could've just uploaded the entire chapter. They are doubly stupid.

No! No-one should want anyone to upload parts!
