I'm pretty sure we're heading for Kimura x Manaka and this manga is just the journey. Think Toradora with Ryuuji liking Taiga from the start. They can even have Ei-kun think that Manaka likes Kimura instead of him. I also think she won't shift from Ei-kun to Kimura until the last volume, whenever that is. You can see how stunned his confession left her. It had real impact because of its honesty and how he's trying to help her BSS himself.

Feel like it went through its core concept a little bit too quickly in a single chapter, but it was very entertaining. I hope it doesn't churn out of content ahead of time. Promising start so far, though.

Reminded me a little bit more of this one than the recent, well received anime that you're all thinking of, probably because of the fourth wall breaking noooooticing by the main character about how tropey his school is.

I'm reading that one too. I hatus hiatus.

I think he is fully aware of his confession but doesn't expect her to like him, because she likes her childhood friend, so he already saw himself as loosing.

It's times like this where I think 'why isn't this an isekai?'. It's the perfect setup for one!
It'd also make the logical leap the MC is making, where he's just assuming he's a mob in a romcom, seem more legitimate.
... but I guess it can't be an isekai if there isn't magic, random dumb game systems, and an overused ye olden european setting.

The pace on the oneshot felt better to follow imho … it left such an impact so neatly. But serialized stories run on a different pace, after all, so I guess I'll stick around. It's one of those very rare few times I did want a oneshot to be serialized, so looking forward to seeing how this goes.

Eh, tbh I would've liked it if she didn't fall for him and he as her platonic friend did help her out. But they just made her conscious of him in the 1st chapter...

Her personality is also like a pain in the ass, even though our boy set up moments for her.

She's almost as bad as the tsundere.

Considering how loathsome I find tsunderes, that's no mean feat.
