they are still his friends so it would make sense he wants them to get stronger. Also i agree he could have helped just as much being there with them, but i think he also wants the freedom still.

I mean what is the "endgoal" for helping to make his friends stronger, the original goal for them being summoned was to defeat the demon lord right? I honestly forgot if Kyousai knows the king is just using his friends but if he does that could be the reason but shouldn't he at least give them some sort of warning about the king?
yeah he should have given a warning if he knows, but i think he is making them stronger purely for survival in that world, so he doesnt lose anyone.

I’m guessing from using context clues his existence in that world was stuck in a loop that would always reset when the evil him would destroy that world and apparently this has been happening for a long time hence us realizing the time loop I’m guessing our MC this version of him was the variant that figured it out and broke out of his loop I could be very incorrect and read that wrongly but that’s what I took from it
