Mizuto somehow finally starting to get over his grief about unable to do anything to protect his relationship and face that conflict of how he ends up hating the person he used to love.

So, well, that’s a step forward to the present. He’s been holed up in the past for long time. By the end, he is finally able to ask for something.

Still far from the end in my opinion.
Also each volumes got its conflict. Just keep on reading. I think every volumes got amazing endings.
