I checked the comments to see what this story is about (which is about him having his stepsister as his ex but I wanted to know more about their personalities) but I couldn't find a single one, most of them are just guessing even before reading the manga.

The two MCs are a bit bland, they don't overreact even a bit for comedic purposes, they're pretty run-of-the-mill kind of characters.

First of all, the male MC is a bit of a teaser, he teases the girl a few times, and in their past relationship, he used to be a kind sweet boyfriend, but he became a petty moron for some stupid reason.

The female MC is a girl trying to act mature. She was a sweet, shy girl in their past relationship (she even felt excited when the MC invited her to his room in the past but felt disappointed when he didn't push her down) that ended up getting friendlier with others.

Their relationship would not have broken up if the MC wasn't such a moron, getting annoyed that the female MC started having other friends than him. Then the female MC got annoyed that he apparently had female friends, then both of them waited each other to contact, but they both didn't even try to contact each other.

This manga has a bit of cuteness, but it doesn't really have that comedic vibe, none of that funny fun fun stuff and all.

With their stale character personalities, the author will likely add in some rivals or extra characters to somehow make the gray manga a little more colorful.

Or he'll add more Ecchi content.

They are a bit sweet, no doubt, but their characters are pretty bland

@tae_ka_pre In the Light Novel, it's framed as the girl being anxious around people, and when she starts getting along with her classmates he becomes jealous because he wanted to monopolise her. When she winds up trying to appease him, he confronts her about how he feels, but gets upset when she accuses him of cheating on her. Their relationship afterwards gradually falls apart, not "immediately don't contact each other", but "gradually on it became a pain to even reply to each other's messages".

Even in the LN they're pretty much defined by "bookworm" and "hate each other." The manga makes no effort at hiding that these two clearly still have the hots for each other, so it takes away a bit of the charm of the LN's first chapter (which covers the events up to 3.1).

Basically another example of an author who has an interesting setup but doesn't do anything interesting with it.

It's such an overused trope that the author can't help but make the story so bland and average. The art isn't good and both MC are walking caricatures. No reason to invest in this manga.

Mizuto : Uemura Yuuto (Hiro - Darling in the Franxx)
Akatsuki : Takada Yuuka (Yuu - Yagate Kimi ni naru)
Kogure : Hatanaka Tasuku (Joro - OreSuki)
Isana : Hanamori Yumiri (Nadeshiko - Yuru Camp)

From the LN, the theme often feels like relationship, label for the relationship, and expectation from the label.
Or, how they can continue the emotion, without being shaped by a label.

At the end of first volume, both are quite comfortable now with their current relationship. They still love/hate each others but as siblings, no need to hesitate on showing their ugly side. There's also the idea that siblings are forever. Lovers, even married couple can breaks up, but family relationship between parents and children, and between siblings don't change.
The second volume explores about if love have to step up into lovers relationship. The new girl, Isana, consider love as extension of friendship, not a completely separated thing.
The third volume focus on their friends' relationship, ruined because they became lovers (thus the subtitle; If you wanna date your childhood friend, don't)

and Yume is much more the protagonist IMO, at least her conflict is stronger and more visible than Mizuto who always seems calm even when he is handling the narration.

TL;DR - Female MC is a bitch (go figure) and the male MC is disconnected from it all when he should actually give a fuck and gives a fuck when he should be disconnected from it. Not horrible but its one of those "Why the fuck are they acting so autistic" type of deals.
