again, i'm really fond of how the artist mixes in elements of horror and creepy into a otherwise pretty artstyle
Right?! The glitched stat screen with the lady witch on top and her black eyes is just unsettling. But then we have the flowers and stuff and the (imo) super high drawing quality. Imma be honest this manga has some of the best art quality i've seen so far.

Never played a game before? If you know what skills the boss has before you fight it you'll have a much better time of it.

This chapter already showed the larger the mana difference to the target the less accurate the reading is.
So maybe even if you do bring him and is able to protect him, he still wouldn't be able to read the boss stat because of that mana difference.

In that worst case, you're not only getting nothing useful from appraisal, but you'd have handicaps in the fight to protect the merchant.

Horribly ironically he's nearly correct. She is a calamity class monster, beings are being brainwashed (the mandragodas), a certain holy knight is more loyal to her than his duties, the place is basically transformed into her territory, and her abilities aren't what they seem.

The major thing he has wrong is her intentions.

Oh if you put it that way, thats actually terrifying.

Imagine having a story or campaign putting you in this guy's shoes and the DM shows you a peaceful village but you seeing otherwise

That's because she's basically a skull level enemy (10+ levels higher), anything the knights would actually fight would be more like in games how bosses are 3 levels above the player, his skill would probably work just fine.

Basically, since they are so outmatched, it doesn't matter if he's a handicap because they stood no chance in the first place.

Might I remind you the captain had to fight solo in earlier chapter because the other guys have no resistance to curses so it'll one-shot them?
Being captain he's probably stronger than the others even outside of being unaffect by curse already.

And even he couldn't handle the goblin zombies due to sheer number

The knights already knew about curse-causing monster because there's corpses of victims nearby, no appraisal needed.

Also they have a guy who's been alive for 500 fucking years and probably has been researching/recording all kind of monsters already, there's probably no need to drag around an extra body 'just in case' they run into some kind of new species that need that appraisal to check.

GEEZUS !!! That's some Lovecratian-tier of "Things Humans shouldn't look too much into"...

Chapter trying to be all serious and shit but nothing can distract from Ritter falling for the Mandragussy lel

Calling it now : Those Mandragoras will soon have human forms and Ritter will find Boob-Radish LESS attractive as one lol

That appraisal scene reminded me of that Instant Death novel/manga where one of the "special forces" units peeked into MCs mind and had a lovecraftian experience where the "truth" shattered her mind and turned her into a babbling mess.
