Does Kamiya Yuu count? I think he's half-Brazilian/Japanese (born Brazil)
Author/Artist of No Game No Life
I think his wife worked on the manga

@KatoShuu Slap me in the face for not knowing that cause i am pretty surprised the author is a Hafu despite the japanese name. And yes it counts too

Nah, that's not Russian name. Sounds more like Czech or Polish.

I used to follow a non-Japanese comic artist who joined a manga contest and won. They started publishing manga in a Japanese magazine I think. Don't remember their name tho

There's this Russian female mangaka who drew what life in Japan is like from her POV, been seeing the ads multiple times on IG. It's pretty cute
So, I googled "non-Japanese mangaka". Turns out, ShindoL is a half American/Japanese (Born America) whaaaa????

@KatoShuu NGNL's author real name is Thiago Furukawa Lucas, and their parents are also brazilians, descendents of japanese overseas immigrants.

His face is pretty much brazilian, and in a interview he said he suffered so much bullying that he had to abandon middle school. Probably this was the reason for his later sucess (Rei Kiriyama feelings, lol)

There are lots of professional gaijin mangakas, but it is rare for them to be responsible for very famous works.

One example of another brazilian, without any japanese roots, is Angelo Mokutan:

Netflix just released a show called Warrior Nun that is based on an American manga called Warrior Nun Areala. I'm almost done with the show and it's average at best, but I'm curious how the source material is.
