Mangas that aren't on mangadex

I used to use mangahere/mangafox/mangakakalot since it was convenient and easy. Something happened to them etc. etc. and i lost my bookmarks.. i know i should have used mangaupdates.

But with the switch to mangadex the last half year i lost alot of manga not on this page (since you aren't assholes like the websites mentioned earlier)
Could we start a thread where all the manga not uploaded on this page can be seen? Or atleast the popular Ones.

Example: We can't study
https://mangadex.org/manga/20774/bokutachi-wa-benkyou-ga-dekinai

Thanks alot!

depends. some of them aren't being worked/uploaded on due to "licensing", or because the scanlating grop itself doesn't allow rehosting, and will not rehost (eg: Mangastream)

We get plenty of DMCA emails because of the illegal nature of scanlation but DMCA is a US law. English licensed work are usually produced and/or sold in the US where DMCA laws actually apply. Server host would probably end up complying with the DMCA threat and potentially take the site down if there are enough warnings. Not the desired outcome. Easier to just disallow any kind of official content from companies that are still kicking.

@plykiya but DMCA is US, right? so if let's say a server was hosted in not-USA then DMCA wouldn't have any effect nah?

That's true to some degree. We're not located in the US, doesn't really stop the server hosts from complying with the threat from active companies though. Hollywood enforces their copyright laws elsewhere in the world because of how much influence they have but for manga there's not much money involved. No point in companies pursuing action against us when they're not going to gain money off it, more likely it'd be a loss for them in the end. So we allow official content from manga that companies have lost their license to, content that's no longer being sold by the company for whatever reason, or defunct companies.

Pretty much. Grenadier was done by TokyoPop and TokyoPop lost all of their licenses. Just recently came back with four in the past year.

Seems like Grenadier got licensed by Viz Media later on in 2015. If the translation/overall work they're selling is completely different than the stuff sold by TokyoPop, probably means they only bought the license to publish the manga and not the rights to the TokyoPop version. So the TPop version would be safe to upload while the Viz version is off limits.

What i meant wasn't rehosting, but linking to them. For example having a place with all the popular mangas not hosted on here, with a mangaupdates link, or as you said mangastream links. I don't know if my English is too unclear.
Edit: I think this came across as rude, was not intended!
