@Nunally Volley fire should be easy to get, but countermarch or platoon fire (two varieties of dividing your unit up in sub-units and having them in different stages of loading and firing, I can't recall the official name right now either) takes a bloody lot of drilling, since they need to be able to keep similar speeds of reloading and aiming while being in combat.

However something I didn't bring up which is similarly helpful is - if you got more people than wall space to fire from (and have the extra guns), you can have people less trained in firing handle the reloading. (Even the reloaders don't have to be well trained, as long as they are divided into groups headed by someone who knows what to do and can supervise/tutor them while they do effective work.
That way even normal citizens can make the half-trained gunners into a lot more deadly combatants. XD

(But if he really wants effect, instead of 500+ barrels of muskets, he should make like five pieces of artillery. Round balls skipping across the ground will cripple dozens of people per shot, and their screams will mean even more people will have to carry them away, or morale will suffer even worse. And the option for grapeshot or canister will really make the attackers think they're facing battlefield magic.)

I don't like how the Dwarf king was rescued the same chapter as he was established to be captured, because I feel like that needed to be paced a bit better, but whatever.

It's interesting this is the first time I've seen the rivals be Dwarves and Humans instead of Dwarves and Elves...

Also 12k men when you're fighting a foe like demons probably won't be enough

12.000 isn't much when they have guns at their disposal. kinda scary how much that will change the tide of a battle. but even then, they fight against demons, even just 2 were able to infiltate a prison and secure a prisoner while trying to be sneaky, i wonder how they believe the battle to be an easy one.

@larcek

It probably depends on the actual quality of the troops, their equipment, morale and how casual they are about massive losses.
If they have enough siege equipment, they could probably force an assault along the entire wall at the same time. In that case, there's no way 500 muskets could hold them off, unless they've got something to keep them off the ladders / towers, or ... other tricks.
But if they instead focus their attacks on a specific small area, thus only using their superior numbers as cannon fodder, they could probably repeat the Ottomans' mistake at Vienna .

So, it's probably possible or impossible depending on how they go about doing it.

He's a modern timer right? Why not making automatic firearms instead? AK has simple mechanism, should not be hard to produce

@screamdoom He can't. He has no idea how guns are made mechanically. He was given the matchlocks by the Demon King, who is the reincarnated Oda Nobunaga, aka the man himself who revolutionized japanese warfare with the guns adapted from europeans. Ike himself has no idea how to build a gun, whether it's modern or not.
