I wonder how many languages there are. The witch this chapter used a different alphabet I think than Mary in previous chapters, so probably a different one.

@DrHizzle I agree, maybe pointing at things until Mary says the word, him writing down the phonetics and trying to find similarities between the languages, although it would require the language to have an alphabet, and some do not. But anyways, he could be taught the sounds of the words and just repeat them

Drawing: He could draw words from japanese that are objects in his surroundings, point at the word and the object, and say the word, afterwards motioning for her to do the same. Obviously anything can be misunderstood, but if so try and try again. If she doesn't let him use a pen or quill, use a stick and some dirt.
Body Motions: so what, one failed attempt means he should just never try again?
Props: so because you haven't seen a book yet you assume her castle has no books? No scolls? Nothing with any writing whatsoever? To the 2nd point, as I said above, if she doesn't understand, try and try again.
It seems like you're just coming up with wild reasons to justify your original opinion

My curiosity is on why Ren was summoned. So far all we know is that Mary is:
A) Over protective to SSS-Rank
B) Wants Ren to eat Meat (Likely the thought process is meat = strong, so he'll become stronger/healthy)
My personal thought is that Ren was summoned as a Familiar. Mary quite likely lost her previous familiar, leading to the over protectiveness, and why she wants Ren to be strong so he won't die.
This is also probably why Neah wound up trying to break the two of them apart, saying something along the lines of Ren not being strong enough to protect her (which ends in Ren protecting her from the rain and Neah accepting him somewhat).

The obvious thing is that the Witch here states that Ren has a familiar mana, one that we would assume means another isekai'd person.
BUT I think that was a red herring-
The Witch I believe was referencing Neah, possibly due to whatever magic she performed on Ren using his hair as a catalyst. What's interesting is IF that is the case, why is would the Hero Party's Witch know Neah? (And why would they want to kill Mary?) To further back up this theorizing, the Witch tries doing exactly what Neah did by pulling up Ren's shirt (or in this case cloak).

Learning the basics of another language is really NOT that hard (assuming it has a basic structure similar to the languages on Earth, at least, which seems unfounded but is corroborated by all we've seen so far). The MC was able to learn Maou's name (and vice versa) in just one chapter, and they're clearly able to communicate intent and some basic meaning to one another. It would be even easier if he had the chance to observe conversations between people, but the basic "point at thing and indicate question until you get its name" should be a start. Problem is, our MC just doesn't appear to give a fuck about communicating (and in the meta sense, if he learned how to communicate fluently that would destroy the basic premise of the manga).

@DrHizzle I'm with @WhimsiCat in this. Mary so far doesn't looks like she care at all about teacing him the language. She gave up pretty fast in trying to understand him with the pillow issue and if he pushed more I'm sure the only thing he will accomplish will be to annoy her or make her cry tinking he is bullying her somehow.
