@cor3zone: You argued that I pivoted, I said I didn't, if that wasn't argument I'm not sure what qualifies as argument to you.

And YOU are the one who keep saying that I said things I specifically didn't, I tried to choose my words carefully and then you interpret them incorrectly.
Which is rather ironic in a comment on manga about being unable to communicate.

Wow, what's ironic is you not understanding the meaning of your own arguments.

You asked who "would" teach. Then listed several things that wouldn't (Mary, golem, books). If there is nothing that would teach him, he literally couldn't learn. It's what lack of learning opportunities means: an inability to learn. Nobody would teach = no way to learn. Then you went on to list several other reason he couldn't learn (Mary doting, Mary not understanding gestures, lack of abundant writing). Only after that did you state that he "wouldn't bother". You literally backpedalled from 'reasons he can't learn' to 'he doesn't want to learn'. And "care to [verb]" literally means "want to [verb]" here. If he can't be bothered to(care), it means he has no desire to(want). English, friend.
Interesting how you pivoted from 'no way to learn' to 'doesn't want to learn'. Not saying your points are wrong, just that it makes you seem kinda desperate to push your argument.
You listed several reason why he couldn't learn. 'No one would teach' is a reason he couldn't. And you know "want to" and "care to" are the same in this instance. You're just arguing for argument's sake at this point.
I'm really not arguing, though? I'm analysing your arguments.
Note that in all this I offered no arguments. I merely interpreted your arguments in a logical manner. Did I add any point for or against either being able to learn, or wanting to learn? Did I add any reasons he couldn't/wouldn't? That he could/would? I mean, I did earlier, but none of those were directed at you or your arguments. The fact that you got very defensive of your arguments when I even stated you aren't wrong, makes it pretty obvious you just want to argue at this point. If you didn't, you'd just gloss over my comment. I was aggressive, but you responded more so. Maybe mellow out, and enjoy some manga?

@cor3zone:
> If there is nothing that would teach him, he literally couldn't learn
Never heard of self-study?
Yes that was nitpicking, but you were the one using the hyperbolic 'literally couldn't'

> Only after that did you state that he "wouldn't bother". You literally backpedalled from 'reasons he can't learn' to 'he doesn't want to learn'
Because, if you didn't read the response to me, Hizzle asked me this:
>If you could come up with one valid reason why MC from his point of view should be putting 0 effort into trying to communicate that he wants to learn her language, I'm all ears
I didn't backpedaled, he asked a different question (why the MC wouldn't/shouldn't put effort into learning), I answered (other interests)

And if you'd go back and read again, in my reply to you I said this
>So it's not that he 'doesn't want to learn', he 'doesn't care to learn (anymore)'
Note the ANYMORE part.

>And "care to [verb]" literally means "want to [verb]" here. If he can't be bothered to(care), it means he has no desire to(want). English, friend.
I fail to find such definition, here's the one I have.
care
/ker/
verb
1.
feel concern or interest; attach importance to something.

THIS 'interest' is my usage of care. The degree of desire is different. Like the difference between just 'dislike' and 'hatred' or 'loathe'.

>Did I add any point for or against either being able to learn, or wanting to learn? Did I add any reasons he couldn't/wouldn't? That he could/would?
Because that is not your argument, I literally just said this:
>You argued that I pivoted, I said I didn't, if that wasn't argument I'm not sure what qualifies as argument to you.

> If you didn't, you'd just gloss over my comment. I was aggressive, but you responded more so. Maybe mellow out, and enjoy some manga?
Right back at you? It's you who decided to start 'analyzing' my argument instead of 'gloss over' it to begin with.
You were aggressive, I respond in kind because that is the kind of person I am and if you keep responding, so will I and I can't guarantee I'll put in that much effort into actually making logical replies down the line.

Wow, so he has to learn from something, but there's nothing he can learn from. So, self-study? Good joke.😂

Things he did aren't reasons why he shouldn't, though. Isolated instances doesn't equate to character. He tried gestures more than once. He was the one that instigated learning eachother's names. He's not in any great danger, so comfort is a natural human need (you know Maslow?). He has repeatedly tried to do things himself, getting stopped by Mary. He has repeatedly tried to communicate, after accepting they can't communicate. So, to summarize my evidence: he's not lazy, comfort is a need, he actively tries to communicate despite barriers. Refuting all your so-called "reasonS why he wouldn't bother." There, I presented an actual argument. Fucking happy now?😉 Also, you changed Hizzle's "should" into "would". Hmm?🤔

If "anymore" was the focus, then why change the verb?🤨

Your "interest" in learning equates to curiosity. Definition: 'desire to learn'. A desire to (verb), is a want to (verb). It's quite literally the same in this case (as in, relating to learning in particular), why nitpick when you admit to getting bothered by that very same thing when I did it? Also interesting how that is the very first thing you did when responding to me. "Not 'could', 'would'", indeed. I changed "would" into "could", sounds familiar...🤣

So a casual observation is now an argument? Ok, not how I feel. Your life must be exhausting.

If having your points scrutinized makes you lose your sense of logic, maybe don't engage in public debate? I could do this forever (or until a mod stops us). I delight in using logic to make people lose their shit. Maybe that makes me a troll? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Wanna go?😉

Edit: by the way, realised I hadn't mentioned it yet. I love this manga, great work scanlators!

Yeah, I was being sarcastic, glad you enjoyed it.

>Things he did aren't reasons why he shouldn't, though
"Why is this manga about being unable to communicate not try to break its own premise"

Also, you changed Hizzle's "should" into "would". Hmm?🤔
>So I guess my reason on why he 'shouldn't' learn the language through study is that it'd be out of his character.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

>If having your points scrutinized makes you lose your sense of logic, maybe don't engage in public debate?
No, it's hearing dumb arguments like "why don't batman just kill the criminals" makes me stop 'caring' and only respond with something dumb because it doesn't feel like anything I say will matter anyway only whether I stop or not.

More like reasonS why he wouldn't bother.

1. He's a lazy person: https://mangadex.org/chapter/807919/5
2. His focus is more on the comfort of his life: https://mangadex.org/chapter/867144/4
3. He went "eh, whatev" about the language barrier already: https://mangadex.org/chapter/807919/24

So I guess my reason on why he 'shouldn't' learn the language through study is that it'd be out of his character.
Hmmm, "wouldn't" came before "shouldn't", you say? I literally quoted: "reasonS why he wouldn't bother.", you say? Someone gets pissy when getting counter-nitpicked, you say?🤔

What, like characters struggling against destiny (or the story's premise, in this case), isn't a common tool? There's actually several tropes relating to that, you know? Conflict is story; a story where the character just accepts whatever happens is pretty boring. Even slice-of-life stories have some kind of struggle.
You were aggressive, I respond in kind because that is the kind of person I am and if you keep responding, so will I and I can't guarantee I'll put in that much effort into actually making logical replies down the line.

Ok, so you still haven't pointed out the "dumb" in any of my logic, so why are you already responding without thought? Couldn't be bothered, or couldn't find it?😉

Hero very cliched but the priestess is the type of person that is nor worth to keep around don't matter how talented they are.

One thing that get to me here is that he is not making any effort to learn the language of the place he is now. At least it is not showing any, at this point he should have at least get some common words like "you" and other vocatives.

@Sonaldo
But the discussion is part of the fun.

Thinking about and discussing stories is how I enjoy them. Sorry for being an analytical reader, I guess.😂

I suppose some people enjoy turning their brain off, but to me that seems childish. Even a kid can look at pretty pictures, while an adult should try to grasp meanings. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It is childish, but the fun is the interaction with the other person and to see what they think instead of actually making any sense.
It is a discussion about the actions of a fictional being with no capacity to change or choose it's behaviour as it just act the way the author wants it to, which is a point of dispair for me in many titles as I see so much potential in it and the author just throw it out the window in the sake of something stupid.

Dude. This is a gag manga where the premise is that the male mc cant understand what the demon lord is saying and the character are literal moe bait. If you wanted a deep engaging discussions regarding languages in a fantasy setting, heterogeneous linguistic exists. Get off the intellectual high horse will you? Some media are meant to be enjoyed while turning off your brain. I mean you wouldn't analyse the fast and furious movies right? If you need to think to enjoy all forms of media, I reckon you'll have a lot of trouble enjoying most of them 😒

I didnt even call you childish. Lol. Sorry if I offended you or anything. I'll be looking forward for your pointless analysis on more gag manga okay?😅

Edit: I just read all your comments. 😂 It's worst than I thought. Sorry man. You're childish as fuck. I mean look at this paragraph from your comment. Imagine reading this in a comment section of a fluff manga. I quite literally hurt my sides from laughing at this 😂 Especially at the public debate part😂
