You guys seem to forget that this dude is not only unable to understand the language but he can’t even read a single written character of the language. The only time they were able to understand each other was when they call each others names and through gestures. How the fuck are you supposed to learn the language from solely gestures.

But hey now there’s someone who actually speaks both languages so he’ll be able to learn it now! Happy?

@raxr Uh, the same way every civilization has since before antiquity? By pointing to things and saying what they're called until the other person understands?

@raxr same way every language that have been translated to other, it start with pointing stuff and gesture until the learner memorized the words of said object, from there they'll increase their vocabulary and eventually speak the language
That's also why the best method of learning a new language is living with the community that speak those language natively

@Miros Actually slavery was uncommon in the middle ages. I mean, you can argue that serfs were little more than slaves, but still they were not considered slaves. Neither slavery as we kbow it today nor the completed twisted isekai take on it were a big thing back then.

So trying to justify its presence in isekai stories because they're based on the middle ages is completely ass backwards.

@Kevadu slavery was practiced widely in various forms in Europe during the Middle Ages, alongside captivity, serfdom , we can stay all day discussing that but we are not going anywhere

And being triggered or trying to imply these authors fetishizing this horroudus act is completly bonkers just because the said thing it's used on this kind of story template

Slavery was a thing in the middle ages...

Both debt slavery and criminal slavery were somewhat common, doesn't mean that slaves would be seen in everyday life since they were used more on places that could make it hard for them to escape.

There were also war slaves but those weren't as common and more something of the middle east than Europe.

LOL@ people getting triggered by European slavery which was ended over a hundred years ago while being completely ignorant to the over 20 million slaves in the world right now.
