So, he wants a casino return rate of 90%, while they say the highest is 60%. Compare that to modern real life casinos, which have return rates above 95% in most games. Some jackpot slots games and American roulette have lower. Blackjack with a basic strategy is above 99%.

Yes. You're expected to get that percentage back for what you spend, on average. Spend 100, get 90 back, if the return rate is 90%.

Blackjack being that close means that with more advanced tricks like card counting, you can go above 100% and make more money than you spend. But that only goes for a large number of plays, and they can tell you to stop playing or throw you out if they think you're using "unfair" methods.

This is an odd one. The author doesn't seem to understand some basic principles. Strongarming a company like that to take less profit NEVER works. At least not to my knowledge. The company just builds the lucrative business right outside the town, or walks away. Then, siphons profits and business away from the town, and slowly kills it. Walmart in the US does exactly this. "Oh, the city wants XX taxes? We'll just build the Walmart right outside the city, no taxes needed, none of the money goes to the city for improvements"

Casinos (Not Vegas, that's a whole different animal) do the same thing, that's why you see Walmarts and casinos JUST outside smaller cities. How do I know? Worked on it, for an evil corporation. Capitalism is dope, yo.

It's not about the percentage in casinos cases. It's all about volume. Who cares what percentage you make when you clear $1,000,000-$10,000,000 US PER DAY. In PROFIT. I need to reiterate. THATS PROFIT, PER DAY! I believe it's the only legal business where your biggest operational overhead is "Storing all the cash you just cheated millions of people out of." (May or may not be sarcastic)

Return rate is exactly about percentage. It's about what a customer can expect to gain from a certain amount of spending. Sometimes it's turned around as a loss rate, but it amounts to the same.

What you're talking about are related things, such as why you can have a high return rate and still make a buttload of money. But it's a different topic than the one I was talking about.
