As everyone expected, the guy is totally the Demon Lord's former retainer. Though I wasn't expecting the twist of him mainly wanting to talk to Ooma to confirm whether or not his memories were real and that he wasn't some kind of chuunibyou.
Though a very risky move on his part in case Ooma wasn't the one he was looking for as he would've just assaulted a random middle school girl.

That said, I'm ready for the misunderstandings stemming from Yuuka completely misreading the situation.

That "Bad Feeling" she got near the end makes me wonder, though. I'm sure Zai will remain a suspect for Ooma's death for awhile, but if he was also killed at the same time, then ....maybe it was Riri, after all? I like to think there was another actor in play, if I'm honest, as Riri would need a very compelling narrative reason to assassinate her demon lord, that's not just "he wouldn't date me fast enough".
Her being the long-con antagonist would be kinda neat, I guess, though it'd make this a weird enemies-to-lovers with a side of covertness, which might get a bit befuddling. So the Hero being the one to do it in the end, is my personal choice just for the simplicity of it all.



Which....what if Yuuka was the Hero, but had lost all memory of that past life?

On the serious side, nice to see that suspicious man was just another retainer. He is kind of goffy but his heart is in the right place. ANd I do wonder what will happen next as Riri did confront Ooma's classmate and was obviously following the other two. Hopefully she didn't turn into tsundere in meantime...

Yuuka wingmanning and then mistaking the person her friend was trying to date in the first place. I did notice how in Ch. 4 Ooma did not gender her date at all, and I thought that was kinda odd. Now Yuuka's misunderstanding might become a source of comedy and I'm so here for it.

We got 4 more retainers after this I think, so I don't know if we'd meet their killer this early, or maybe we just won't get the reveal until after all the retainers are found.
I appreciate though that Maou caught on pretty quickly, that was a strange amount of relief there at him not remembering a pretty big detail.
Weird to get back into contact with your boss that you killed too. Could have just gone his separate way. Though I wonder too if the previous memories of his life were really getting to him, so he'd put himself at risk like this just to be sure he wasn't crazy.

I did notice how in Ch. 4 Ooma did not gender her date at all, and I thought that was kinda odd.

It only comes off as odd because the discussion was translated from Japanese into English. Japanese uses far less gendered terms than English does, and having an entire conversation about a person without ever revealing their gender is completely natural in Japanese.
