Yo author, were the first like 10 chapters a joke? MC shouldn’t be struggling with anything right now. You’re allowed to write a character that’s trained for a long ass time with some of the strongest beings in existence to win a fight easily, not every fight has to be a struggle. Especially not basically the first actual fight MC has. His lack of resolve doesn’t mean he doesn’t know how to fight, it means he doesn’t want to kill, 2 very different things. Chaos47 made the correct reference, every person he’s fighting against for the next like 5 years should be like a baby with a butter knife compared to him, this should be so easy he could slap the guy and he explode into a puddle of blood.

So random swordsman could defeat the kid that was training for a ridiculous amount of time with some of the strongest beings... no sorry, a random swordsman could kill (but didn´t because he really just wants to kill the prince, not because he couldn´t, but because he did not want to) this really not powerful guy...

Like he really is weak, like think about it, he was weak and then trained with the best for a lot of years... all of that for him to still struggle and be naive, i mean... sure believe in the heart of other and all of that, but at least have some defense or something.

and the thing with "i just remember that i have to kill sometimes i just needed to be almost killed in order to do so"... man, this does not work as a story, not even as smut... pretty sure that he won´t kill the swordsman, because good kids don´t kill... ever, not even when is absolutely justified... man!, everyone wants to be Batman, but they only take what they like, when they should take it all for the character to work

Reasonably, this is where you'd expect the dude to be comically wrong and get bodied by someone with actual centuries of training over him. Even if he has comparatively little battle experience, he's still trained with two incredibly dangerous beings for hundreds of years.
