The sheer number of pages on this chapter for a monthly issue is extremely dissatisfying...
Sadly I'm used to it with this manga. A several month hiatus followed by an 8 page chapter (not counting the cover and credits) that's mostly taken up by the characters eating and talking about what they're eating. It's lucky I love these characters so much, because if not the pacing would have probably caused me to drop this years ago.

I don't mind the short chapter cuz I'm just happy to see a chapter. Though of course I would love longer chapters.
Thanks for the translation.

it's been a good long while that I forgot what the current story is all about lmao
that being said, with how this manga does its story i'm actually okay with it. There's a "savor the moment while it last" feel in this series, and usually upon rereading i never felt the story got hung up

the hiatus was Miura related?

Thank you for the latest chapter, I always feel such care in the translation 💜💜💜

Loved this quiet introspective moment between sensei and Rei, and that color page! Ugh this manga is always worth the wait, I just love the atmosphere, the art, the everything 💖

Thanks again for another great chapter, Hi Wa Mata Noboru! Y’all make my day 💙

So only bad thing about this manga.....so damn short. Though to be fair that's one thing I noticed these past years, manga chapters in general have been getting shorter and shorter. Maybe the authors are all thinking more about their health or something.

Also if I remember correctly it's not that this author is particularly healthy individual. Oh well I'll just wait patiently for the next chapter...though I really want to see more Hina + Kiriyama. That will probably be there in six months.

3 months for this ? i regret find this opera . im gonna drop it and in a decade maybe i will rediscover it . hopefully it will be finished
Shouldn't have to wait ten years- this story is finishing up probably within a year or so, so long as Umino-sensei takes care of herself. Volume 18 will reportedly be the final volume, from what I understand, and this is the first bit of content that's expected to be incorporated into it. It may even be merged with a subsequent chapter- prior Volumes have done the same, which is why it took seven whole chapters from the end of Volume 17 before the first legitimately new chapter hit, from my position over a year later, with Volume 17 out and its chapter numbering and naming having been confirmed by MangaDex's database.

When Volume 18 comes out, the chapter with this number will be completely different, and the content for this one will shift to Chapter 195, most likely. Volumes average 13-15 chapters, but one or two magazine-published chapters might end up merged with another chapter for a volume, so there could be as many as 17 chapters before there are enough for Volume 18.

We're already about 12 chapters in as of when I'm making this comment, by my reckoning, so we really are closing on the home stretch.

Btw, somehow I got a bad feeling about that color cover. It looks wholesome yet the text evoke sadness.
It's cited as being the Volume 17 cover, so I feel it is safe to assume it has to do with Kiriyama and Nikaido's match and Nikaido's collapse and recovery during that volume's shogi chapters (the Path ~Path~ arc and the Distant Music arc). Fairly sure it only applies to that and does not have bearing on any future tragedy, but I suppose it can't be ruled out entirely.
