she's only 58, i wouldn't worrythe mangaka will probably die of old age before finishing this 😞
As long as it's not the dubs...Still looking forward to Rei buying that house next to grandpa's shop. Also getting a ring and having Hina equip it. The anime was so good I want more seasons. The VA's for Rei and Hina were in "Kubo Won't Let Me Be Invisible" and it was so great hearing them act together again.
It might also be a matter of volume chapter length vs magazine-published chapter length, as well. Though the discrepancy is only around 7 chapters, the volumes do involve chapters being merged together, from what I can recall, which is why the discrepancy exists. There's less, but longer, volume chapters, so for many times over the history of this manga, there's been situations where several 'no volume' chapters after the last volume have been repeats until the next volume is released and its chapter content and numbering is used in place o the magazine-published instances. Volume 18 will see this chapter shifted back, for instance, and may even see a few of these several chapters from 202 on (that's about when the truly new chapters since Volume 17 began) be merged together once added to Volume 18.I really wish there where more pages. I thought I remembered there where more pages years ago, there where but it still was only a maximum of 20 pages. Still....10 is just bit on the short side. This is going to take even more years to finish, the mangaka will probably die of old age before finishing this 😞 I know I'm complaining about nothing that really matters, but I just want more of this story.
Gotta admit, things certainly are getting more interesting and up-in-the-air. Once we started getting Kiriyama's internal monologue, as well, I was kind of worried the tension would be eased as we saw things from the 'genius' perspective, but he's realizing Shimada is demonstrating a kind of strength that he didn't expect in his desperation to win. It doesn't feel rational to him, so it's taking him aback.I'm amazed that this series, which has brought me to tears many times with its warm, knowing, depiction of loneliness and connection, also is so good as a competitive game series. The idea of Shimada having another "mode" that he shifts into when he makes a mistake, of wild desperate punching, that may be even stronger than his normal composed mode... it's so compelling in such a shonen-y way, and it fits with his character and the flow of the match in such an interesting way.
