Rei is suffering from his trauma over his family's loss coming to the forefront while hearing about Gotou's bereavement isn't he? Poor child.

What I love about this series is how the author continually reminds us that even if someone hasn't been the best person they still suffer and have redeeming qualities and I think, you definitely see that the most with Gotou.

He started the series as a thoroughly unlikeable man, then we seen his wife and his circumstances, the companionship he gives kyouko, he saved Nikaido during his major health flare up...I'm sure there's other things he's been shown doing that I'm missing but. Man.

I love this series so much.

I remember being very sad when people were implying shimada was washed up.

Umino sensei really don´t want to writte anything else about Gotou and Rei´s adoptive family anymore, she even take out Gotou from the tournament.
