if I'm not mistaken this is because, as time went on and the chapters got compiled into volumes, the resulting chapters ended up being bigger than originally released, which someone for some reason decided to update on the site as well.
Makes for a better reading experience, but threw all the comments into disaray (and lots of them complaining about how short the chapters were). You can appreciate what the comments were talking about if you check either the Spanish or Italian translation here on the site, since those seem to have retained the original lenght.
