So Okaya was super interested in Nagare because he never ran away or gave up like his previous victims. Nagare kept fighting and denying him, which in turn made Okaya feel like he had to destroy him more. But, the way that scene was drawn made it seem like Okaya was sexually/romantically interested in Nagare. Which would turn this story into a very twisted “bully teases crush” trope that it does not really need considering how brutually cruel these people are. No amount of backstory can justify them torturing and murdering Nagare.

I don't think Okaya gaining some sort of weird love/lust over Nagare is supposed to be a justification, just another fucked up dimension to the whole thing

I kind a find the need for explaination of a psychopaths motives moot. Their brain doesn't function in any understandable level so if you gonna portray your villians as irredeemable psychopaths like in this case, don't bother with their motive or backstory.

"Hence i won't kill them the moment i capture them" Sigh... So she she will be captured for sure now. I hate when authors put in something so on the nose to their story.

If that does happen, Maria’s not going to give them an inch, I can guarantee that.

I don't think it's necessarily to justify his cruelty - if anything, it only enhances his twisted nature. It's giving more Ted Bundy than shojo romance. I'm just glad there's no sob story to redeem any of the bullies.

I am still wondering what the fat guy did besides looking at them tormenting Nagare because he seems to be more of a business associate to Okaya's family. I can't imagine them hanging out with him normally, considering Okaya's view of people.

Also, Okaya seems to be more obsessed having control over other people like his father since the story frames his father as a somewhat famous psychologist and he wants to be like him.

Now I see why Okaya was so fixated on bullying Nagare: he just didn’t ever give in. No matter how hard they pushed him, he never submitted or ran away, and that made Okaya pissed.

Also nice to see some real confirmation that Okaya doesn’t give a shit about his “friends”.

This didn't made him enraged, by what we have seen this made him horny. His fascination with Nagare looks more as that of a admirer than that of a nemesis. He liked the strong willed and kind Nagare, that endured any type of pain and torture without breaking, he liked the boy, who different from his friends, was strong and pure

I think the idea is for Okaya to want Nagare for himself. I think he wanted to break Nagare, but not to win, instead he wanted them as ally someone that stood at his side and that would make his day to day more interesting

I would welcome this twist with open arms. It would be so off the wall weird that it might be good. Bonus points if the two remaining bullies get fucked up in the process too, unaware their partner in crime was a terminator.

Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying the revenge plot, but this would absolutely entertain me.

Well, Kinugawa was proven an idiot when he decided to step into an obvious trap. The place was even labelled for him. I guess rage and overconfidence are truly a lethal combination.

Two to go. I have the impression Ajiki won't be easy. His brief outburst last chapter and his declared lack of interest in people indicate he might be exceptionally sadistic, with far more brains than Kinugawa.

At this point, I'm more interested in how Maria will deal with Okaya. My hunch is that the way to mess with him is through his family, specifically his mother.

It's almost time for Fatso to learn his life lessons. I wish Maria will become more sadistic towards this little fat bastard

Apparently the artist draws lots of BL. Their works are mainly monsters lovers. As a huge BL reader, I can say this is hate and love as the same coin in those works.

My conjecture is that Okaya (the main villain & antagonist) "fell in love" in a twisted way for Nagure (the deceased son and catalyst to the whole story). Like, Okaya is clearly a psychopath. It helps to think similarly like Joker and Batman where people, stories, fans, etc. argue that Joker's true-love is Batman in the sense he gives him something unique.

My conjecture is that Okaya must have been raised and always is surrounded by Yes-Men, Ass-kissers, and Brown-Nosers. To him, he's grown up learning that people are simply lickspittle tools to an end and not unique individuals with their own beliefs, wants, and needs that matter. Everybody uses everybody and everyone is trying to get something. I mean, pay attention to the conversation Okaya has with the fat-boy: he thinks friends simply are allies. However, businessmen can be allies; "The enemy of my enemy" can be an ally; mercenaries can be allies; etc.. So he doesn't really understand what friends are and are simply just another word for allies... which mean they're just Yes-Men, Ass-Kissers, and Brown-Nosers.

Meanwhile Nagure seems to be the first person who stands up to him and isn't groveling before him to get something. Not even willingly doing what Okaya want to have him stop the pain. He's uniquely and perplexingly defiant against Okaya because of his own beliefs and moral-code. It seems for the first time in Okaya's life he's come across someone who's actually uniquely different and entertaining (compared to his whole life with the constant Bootlickers and people he can easily step-on). So because Nagure was something completely excitingly different in his, from Okaya's POV, monotonous life - Okaya "fell in love" with Nagure ("You were depressed when Nagure died... You aren't really there with us when we hang out... You got mad af when Kowase talked about him [like he was your own twisted sick treasure no one can have let alone use Nagure's name]").

That's my whole two cents.

Here are my predictions:

• Okaya will actually "fall in love" with Maria like he did with Nagure. He's finally found someone after Nagure who's going against him legitimately and Life is entertaining again.
• Fat-Boy will probably figure out he's a disposable-tool to Okaya. I think his arc will be the most different: in the sense I think he'll try join the killer (Maria) against Okaya in an attempt to at least save his own skin (won't work).
• Fat-Boy's punishment will be food/eating-related. Like 99% of the time we see him he's always eating and his type of bullying against Nagure most of the time probably was food-related (like taking his meals).

Oh Yeah. I bet this series is gonna get an anime. I was right with Dungeon Meshi, Mieruko-Chan, and Frieren: Beyond Journey's End. Gotta be honest though, I didn't expect Ragna Crimson to get one (I think).
