Now we have this unnecessary drawn-out and contrived game of cat and mouse which will last for god knows how many chapters.

Fiction doesn't work that way though. The motivation to read is the progress to the climax where the protagonist faces the top villain.

Says in the guy that's more interested in public appearances than the students well-beings & considering that he's complete scumbag & letting other scum like Okaya & his group do whatever the hell they want it wouldn't be surprise if he made a lot of enemies so I think that threat is legit.

And he's gonna learn the hard way to take these types of threats seriously if it is legit

Kind of interesting Okaya sneaked that mbti and "looking young" question to gain more information on who Maria-sensei really is since to his mind she is probably a top suspect.

For reference Maria is actually 37 but gave a different answer to try to mislead.

Ok now that age makes perfect sense, damn story had me like: "wait she's in her 20's??? But her kid was a whole high schooler, WHAT AGE DID SHE GIVE BIRTH??"
