from how its going, theres big chance the husband might go for sacrifece himself as his act of atonement for both her and their son. or both sacrifice themself. the amount of authority and influence okaya's mom has is too big too let them slide if they kill okaya.

Honestly if you told me this was the last chapter I would believe it, really felt like one of those axed manga last chapter.

Anyways, MC still in love with (ex) hubby hope they come together AT LEAST to finish off the remaining targets.

Nah, Fatso is a red herring. Maria is going to try and make him his next target, Okaya is going to do his usual blase Machiavellian style scheming and leave fat kid out of it which makes him finally turn against him. Fatty agrees to help Maria get Okaya under the notion that she can always get him later on. This (somehow) all plays into Okaya's plans and it's revealed Okaya knew fatty was going to betray him from the start. Fatty ends up getting got by Okaya while spoiling Maria's plans.

Final showdown occurs between Maria and Okaya with the husband confronting Okaya's mom. Okaya's mom gets the better of husband and seemingly fatally wounds him, Okaya's dad finally sacks up and sees his opportunity to take out his wife and kid and stabs his wife in the back. Maria and Okaya have a Sherlock Holmes/Moriarty style confrontation at the same ledge that Kiritaka was forced to jump from. Both of them struggle and fall onto the road and get plastered by a truck just like Kiritaka.

We get a brief time skip where we find out the husband survived and is visiting his son/wife's gravestone. The series ends one of two ways, either the husband kills himself at the grave and we get a stereotypical downer ending or Maria shows up somehow surviving the fall and they get back together for a very rare happy ending.

I feel like the husband getting to do a heroic sacrifice and make amends for not believing his son is too lenient for him based on how the author is writing the characters. His job is to just endlessly suffer like how he got merc'd by a fucking teenager despite having the upper hand for 99% of the fight. The husband will be the only one who survives if it's going down the "everyone dies" route.

exactly. i had a theory early on that he was going to turn on the ringleader to save his own ass and it seems that might be the case. must say,though: this is the first time he hasn't looked utterly indifferent to everything going on.
