Maybe you should reread Maria No Danzai? Because you’ve missed a lot of details and even started making some up. No, Taiichirou never told Maria they should have another child to replace Kiritaka. He told her they need to rebuild together because that’s what a family would do, and Maria responded, ‘Even without Kiritaka?’ It’s obviously not easy to console someone after the loss of a loved one, especially their child.

Also, he’s not aware of the real reason for his son’s death and still holds himself responsible because of the fake posts from Okaya’s group. You can criticize Taiichirou for being absorbed in his work, but we see in the flashbacks, both from Maria and Kiri, that they loved each other, and he wasn’t a toxic man, either as a father or a husband.
