Being that she's not exactly in home territory, I find it difficult to imagine exactly how Maria would off Ajiki while in Kyogokutou
Unless Maria happened to build a safehouse on the island just in case
Wait, what if she's the one who suggested Kyogokutou to the principal, who "just so happened" to know a contact that had a resort there?

I'm still invested, but the comparison to that other manga y'all keep making has me praying that author-kun here wraps it up when given the opportunity.

Me just hoping Ajiki's surprisingly being smart and thought through this about chances of him getting killed, and giving Maria leverage on Okaya if he dies. I need Okaya to be so dumbfounded that Ajiki isn't stupid as Okaya think he is. Hahaha

Same, same. I want Okaya to be caught totally out of his element at least once before Maria gets her hands on him, and Ajiki being the one to do it would be a huge blow to that ego of his.

We talkin' Succubus & Hitman, right? I actually gotta read the latest localized volume of that since it just recently came out.
Uh... no. That actually wasn't the manga I was thinking about.

Which is ironic, because that is where the current arc is at.

Just as I was starting to get engaged with the plot again, they reveal that Okaya knew about Ajiki's Yakuza ties all along. I'm getting tired of him always knowing everything and never being caught unaware. Let the MF have ONE blind spot FFS!
While I agree with your general sentiment, aren't you being a bit unreasonable here? Okaya was close to Ajiki for a long time and it stands to reason that he would know about that kind of thing even if it was kept quiet. This is something that it makes sense for him to be aware of, but again I agree that overall he's been written a bit too on-the-ball.

I'm kind of interested to see where this goes but I also feel it's "copying" that other manga. Not directly but I find it ironic that in that other one they went to an island for the training shit or whatever and it was into "the lions den" - and this one they're going to an island for a school trip but also "into the lions den" lol.

I'm just glad this hasn't been dragged out for over 100 chapters but we will see.

This does have a strong potential to be the final confrontation. Pretty much all of the big players are going to the island (Yuda probably crashes to save the day). Murdering Ajiki and then somehow leaving the island sounds wild when you know I doubt local cops would let the very limited pool of suspects leave. I do think there is a chance that they do have one more arc post island. The only reason I think that is because I feel like Maria will try to kill Okaya in the same way her son did. Obviously they could recreate a similar scene on the island, but I could see her wanting it to be the same area.

Wait, why does Ajiki want to kill Maria? Is it just that he wants to get rid of both sides of the game?

Wouldn't it make more sense to only get rid of the 'boring' guy who's dragging you along? :thonk:
