Yang Kai's biggest mistake is to take order from the prison warden. Why on Earth would he do that? Just because they are ink disciples (or faux in Yang Kai's case) doesn't make her his superior. He should just tell her that he will take orders from the Master and only from him, should such orders ever arrive. Obviously they wouldn't, so he would just do whatever he wants. Alas, Yang Kai is really not much of a schemer, so he thought he needs to submit to her to remain undercover. Of course Luan Bai Feng is more than happy to order him around, seeing how in the past he was the boss between them. Oh, well, I guess respecting hierarchy and authority is so deeply a part of the Chinese culture that the author might not have even noticed a strange detail like this.
