If they were to identify them as spies of Hyme they could literally just wipe them out, no ?

Since that could be seen as aggression towards them, so them attacking wouldn't be unjustified 🤨 (Since that's right before the conference)

Hope Ain kicks some ass there, since they keep looking down on him

Looks like big bro is so dumb that not even post nut clarity can help him see that he's serving his country on a silver platter.

In that case, Hyme could counterclaim that a spy from Ishtalica assaulted THEM beforehand, and this was retaliatory. Any number of excuses could be made for why there are spies there, but Ishtalica would actually be more in the wrong since their infiltrated a high ranking officials household, could be (Falsely) blamed for any number of wrongdoings, and also held a high ranking official at knifepoint.

They could also, as it happened often in humanity's past, completely ignore the counterclaim and simply annihilate the enemy as the history is written by the victors. In the story books two/three hundred years later nobody will remember the counterclaim, and there isn't a force strong enough to stop them now so I doubt they would bother honestly.

But countries don't actually care about what is right or wrong, only what benefits them. Ishtalica isn't afraid of Hyme's military might, and just needs a reasonable excuse to give their people and allies on why war is needed.
Even if we ignore the MC's hate for Hyme, the magical gem resources in that country would be very valuable for the country. Realistically, the only reason they haven't colonized more places is likely because of the rules in place that state they shouldn't start wars. Thus doing so would gain them the ire of the common folk and traditional nobles alike.

Knowing stories like these...they're holding a conference on a deserted island in a world where monsters exist, so there will probably be some big bad out there which will disrupt the conference. Since they already took down a Leviathan, maybe this time...a Kraken?

In addition to Hyme likely being caught dealing in bad faith, "talentless" Ain will probably wipe the floor with that monster and put everyone to shame.

She coughed, and dismissed it. She's going to die.

The mouth-looking thing on the ship reminds me of Arpeggio of Blue Steel.

I find not wanting to meet them because you might disturb them kind of rude. Any disturbance is going to be minor, so it's just a shallow excuse, and it shows how little you value your relationship with those people.

When a character says, "it is as you say," it probably isn't as they say.

No, since Hyme gave them reason for it (the entire reason Ain and his Mother, who also happens to be Princess of Isthalica had to go back after they broke their pact), they mistreated both of them for years and instead of trying to make amends, they create more issues, so far Hyme hasn't done anything productive in the story o_ô..
