"I abandoned everything for this" I mean... you abandoned learning your mediocrity and slowly declining into old age for youth and a chance to do better, I wouldn't call that much of an abandon.

The Translation is so bad and quality is shitty, i swept through the chapters and they are all the same, the least you could do was a bit of redrawing. The manga is not that promising too

What a bunch of idiots. Even if there's a kid with higher potential for Red Magic, why not let him keep his title and train the kid to he can max that potential? Just gonna let some legendary Red Mage go and wait 50+ years for that kid to grow up and just learn everything on his own?

I mean...I guess it'll go in a good direction with someone learning quickly. But, the start. Wow, that's painfully stupid. Taking his title because someone in the future might surpass him? If there is no one greater than him in that field of magic, he deserves the recognition for it until someone surpasses him. If anything, the story would have made more sense with him ruining this group's reputation and public trust by using this action against them. He could even have used his high potential to master the rest of the magics listed and if they refused to recognize his skill in them due to him challenging them on the red magic thing, he could use that against them as well with great effect. After all, if he's proven himself far and wide, all that their rejection would do is cause everyone to reject them back. They'd be ruined.

Heck, even their own argument would be disproven by Zeff himself being the greatest red mage. If the potential thing mattered so much, he wouldn't have reached that point. Yet, he did.

My main gripe, and this isn't really important, is that the plot of the story seems to be: "the main character is a complete moron who never even attempted any kind of magic except the one he was worst at, otherwise he'd have easily noticed he was far better at everything else". He wanted to master magic and he did so in the worst possible way because he was simply too stupid to try more than one. I'm guessing from the title he was given red is a very flashy magic and so likely drew him to it when he was young because of that.
