She is a teen... with a highly ranked position in the Mato Defense Force. You'd think someone in that position wouldn't be that easily swayed as she was.

It's a meritocracy based on sheer fighting power, a high-ranking dumbass is not THAT surprising if you think about it. Even Uzen had to display some form of proof that she can reach Ren in fighting prowess just to be considered as a valid candidate in this sham of a vote.

I think we can assume Ren proved herself even more overpowered with this new ability, so that would make peace with the gods even more favorable with this trump card.

This is all terrible politics but that's what they get for thinking that cute teenager girls are a solid basis for government!

One should never make the mistake to negotiate with a bad actor. The only thing they know about the Gods are that they're hostile, dangerous and powerful. They don't even know how much, nor their entire roster.

It's very disappointing of them that they didn't take seriously Uzen stalling Ren in their fight, proving that the power gap isn't as wide as she sells it.

It's very worrying because I'm sure the curse will hit and hurt many of this staked cast

I agree, but tbf, she's the youngest of them and so she's pretty naïve. We as the readers (hell, even the other characters in the series) can easily see through Ren's actions; pure manipulation. Also, personally speaking, I knew Konomi was going to vote for Ren.

Considering Ren’s whole pitch was that she was capable to handling the gods, yes, she proved worthy of the vote. It’s been stated no one but Ren knows the full capabilities of her peach ability so the fact whatever she showed Konomi reinforced that fact and got her the vote.

Many democracy do it.
People who run for a post are still citizen so they retain the right to vote. In this case the people are all still part of the MDF so they have the right to vote.
