I don't think it's contrived, she's just that naive.
It has been shown that out of all the chiefs, she's the youngest and the the most inexperienced. And that she looks at most of the other chiefs as "older sister". So Yamashiro exploited that.
She probably feels the same admiration and reverence towards both of them, but Kyouka didn't do anything special about it cause she already trusts and believes in her, while Yamashiro is blatantly using that naivety against her.

Because honestly speaking, Ren didn't do shit when Bell was kidnapped, but Kyoka did.

She is a teen... with a highly ranked position in the Mato Defense Force. You'd think someone in that position wouldn't be that easily swayed as she was.

I mean, they gave a position to a little kid too. And Ren apparently had that position since she was young, which is why it got to her head.

Yeah that is a Sign she may have voted for Kyouka as for the Reason I think her taking part in the battle against the 2 Gods, her knowledge of Ren being one of the closest to her, and finally her witnessing the Battle Between Ren and Kyouka likely is making her Doubt Rens strength would be enough to handle the gods.

Blatantly obvious and I'm here for it. Himari best girl. She's certainly filling the empty chief spot when Ren moves on to being PM, based on the last 2 chapters.

Now it's just waiting to see how daring the author will get with this election. I'm in camp Kyouka, however it might be more interesting to see Ren win, mess up and then be blown to bits in a rematch.

Ren winning means Yuuki is fucked for life because of his pointless, stupid and nonsensical confession which made absolutely no difference. That's adds another smoothbrain layer to Konomi's vote as well since she knows this but simply said "fuck that lol" and voted Ren with sparkling eyes. As far as Kyouka is concerned, she should never be allowed even in the same state as Yuuki after this. (but that won't happen because shounen)

Yuuki's confession already eliminate one candidate and turn her into a voter, and it's not unlikely that the people who believe in that candidate also support her decision and vote the same person.

What the hell is Ren implying by showing off an ability?

1. Firepower is not a problem for the Corps, given that they have taken down 3 gods and none required Ren's intervention.

2. Even if it was, it's not like she will be booted from the corps, she will still use her strength for the benefit of humanity, right? Miss Commander?

3. The crux of this election is not an arms race, it's a political agenda, Kyouka and Ren have opposing ideas on how to tackle the gods and that's the main division.

4. Ren is being objectively cocky and ignorant of the threat the gods pose, and shows no intention of taking defensive maneuvers in case things go south. Konomi should know, she fought the gods herself.

I know Konomi is an impressionable teenager and all, but show some critical thinking at least?
