Both of then have to grow past the trauma. For Hotaru it will be accepting that killing him was wrong, for Asuka it will ve letting go of responsibility Hotaru and living her dream.

It sucks that Asuka still doesn't see that she was a victim. And I'm reading Hotaru having thoughts of her father as him still having a grip on Asuka and as long as she carries that he'll haunt the both of them.
