Looking at a summary from this report (https://www.nngroup.com/articles/computer-skill-levels/), it seems that japan in comparison to other modernised countries has about the same number of people who are pretty/very good with computers, but also a surprisingly high percentage of computer illiteracy. This matches with my general understanding from consuming a lot of japanese media, where you see many ads for 'computer help services' such as this very japanese ad for pc's with 24/7 personal assistance (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Xra_Sxc9js)
Yes, actually finding a place you can even move into with what you need in it is a pain in the ass. But that isn't the point here. This is more like watching those shows where they just send a camera crew through big fancy houses of celebrities just so you can see what kind of set up they have. It's not like you can afford to even rent the closet of one of those people, so you're not watching that stuff as a reference for how you want to do things in reality.
