I really like this series but I have zero interest in the second couple… their story is just a run of the mill office romance. There’s nothing unique or special about it. I’m only interested in the main couple as they are both very unique characters, in a unique situation, and in a unique relationship. It makes you curious about what their relationship and experiences are going to be and it’s why I started reading this. Hopefully the second couple part wraps up fast because we already know what’s going to happen. The girl on the guy’s arm is gonna be a relative but we aren’t gonna figure that out until we go through a bit of unnecessary drama that will end with them being all lovey dovey. Run of the mill plot for a run of the mill relationship.

You aren't wrong. But they are hilarious as f... Which wins over main story in that regard. Getting embarrassed over own actions over and over. Has grown old very fast.

The reason it is included at all is probably because readers wanted her to have a happy ending.
Also it gives the author a break from having to think of what's next for the actually interesting main couple, which is presumably harder.
