@MonkeyMagic Agreed. When you've never taken more than a cursory interest in cooking it can seem extremely challenging. This of course is true even if you've been cooking with recipes for years. Truth is though once you've cracked the intermediate phase, by actually trying to understand why all the elements fit together, everything becomes a bit easier and the only thing limiting you is availability of ingredients and your own imagination.
Hell making noodles at home is literally flour, water and a pinch of salt and then beating that dough to hell and back. Simple yes, but really basic information can get you far.
Also you can make a basic flat bread dough with the same method above for noodles. Only don't overknead and allow it to rest, makes for a nice alternative to bread. Tomato paste and sauce is literally boiling tomatoes in water with a bit of salt. You can then keep it as is or add spice to flavour. But once again, if you've never taken an interest in cooking it seems difficult but honestly it's so simple that it's ridiculous.
