[MEGATHREAD] New Tags Suggestions

This thread is for suggesting and discussing new tags to be implemented on MangaDex.
Read the guidelines below then post your suggestion as a reply here.

All tags are subject to review by the mod team and are not guaranteed to be added.

Guidelines:​

1. The tag should represent a broad theme or concept that can apply to many different series. Avoid tags that are too niche or abstract. Providing examples is encouraged to clarify where it would be used.
2. Provide a clear explanation of the tag's purpose and what type of content it's meant to categorize. At the very least your suggestion should answer the question: What type of content is it meant to categorize?
3. Avoid suggesting tags that could closely overlap with existing ones. If unsure, check our Tags Definition for guidance, ask if you're still unsure.
4. Tags should primarily focus on describing the content itself, such as its themes, genres, or storytelling structure. Tags that focus on external conditions or processes will be rejected. Other types of tags may be accepted, provided they help users identify the reading structure or navigational format of the content.
5. All suggested tags must align with our site rules. Tags for content that violates these rules will not be accepted.

Important:​

Currently a rework is being done to handle "porn tags". This new system will allow us to categorize these tags to flag them appropriately and segregate them from the main list of tags. Suggestions for these tags will not be considered at this time.

i completely agree. a category should be added for bl and gl subtexts (bromance, homoeroticism, queerbait) for there are a lot of publishers that put josei/shoujo genres which is highly misleading for readers. LGBTQ+ themes should be taken considerably.

No Vore Tag​

Mangadex apparently does not have a Vore tag.

Anything falling under the banner of "porn tags" is pending a tag rework with the ability to flag tags as some kind of equivalent to the ExH "offensive to everyone" warning, and a way to segregate them from the normal tags.

It's something we want to do, and had plans for back in v3, it's just not particularly high priority.

Also, while a lot of vore works do indeed result in snuff, there are quite some that don't, either by just "spitting them out afterwards" or going into the transformation route.

Tag for single page chapters?​

Not too much of a problem but I’m not a fan of series that have just one page as a chapter. I think a tag for it wouldn’t hurt.

ESP now a days people seem to be uploading one page from an artists Twitter and calling it a “one-shot”

I don’t think that’s too much of an ask tbh.

I’m not saying these things are bad, but I’m just not a fan and it’s hard to tell from a glance without just clicking on it.

Agree... there should be a differentiate between serialized one-shot with 2 or 4 pages twitter comics

Expand it into 4 pages comic as well. There should be any distinction between serialized magazine one shot (with more than 20+ pages) and 1-4 pages twitter comics

iyashikei tag​

Suggesting/Requesting addition of indexed iyashikei for mangas.
Definition of Iyashikei: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iyashikei
Reason: Iyashikei anime is a personal favorite of mine, nice way to wind down after a hard day. Was thinking that having it as a searchable manga tag would be superb.

If it's actually used for a series with more than a single chapter, this would be mistagging so please report it.

If it's some random unrelated Twitter comics, there's no set procedure for this but the usual way has been to create kind of an "anthology" entry, like "XX's Twitter Comics" or something rather than having a separate title page for each and every little thing. I guess we should come up with a standard for that.

As for whether series with ≤4 pages per chapter need their own separate format tag, I'm not sure. "Web Comic" kind of largely overlaps with it already.

Yeah. They're fun, but running across this style of pixiv/Twitter "oneshot" feels like dealing with YouTube's 'shorts' before they streamlined them into their own tab/category: it's not a lot of content for the time spent loading and navigating.
They definitely need a term, something with the same effect as 'shorts'. Or 'vines', lmao.

Yeah so probably best to create a Twitter comics title entry and upload them under there, but like I said, we don't have specific rules or guidelines regarding this situation. This is technically perfectly fine, and just adding a tag for these seems like a bandaid solution at best.

i mean this is mangadex, not one-page no panels dex.
These really aren't comics at all. I mean its fine if you ya'll wanna put them on here, but I'd prefer something more stricter.

I think a twitter tag or something.
must be difficult though. Im not an admin or mod with a big team. So i'd personally just do it, but i understand if you gotta have meeting n shit
