I swear I saw the ending already somewhere.

I may have mtl translated the ending for my personal use and then forgot about it.

The FMC broke up with the MC and told him ''to wait for me'' until she passes on her exams, which lasted for an entire year. Not only that but her tutor was her ex and first love, who also took her first time and she was a minor btw, for some reason she and the MC was okay with that? Dunno what the author wanted to cook but he failed, the manga was actually good until those things came up.

The ex part is justifiable if you really squint. It's a symbol that Koga really puts Meguro's interest first before anything and they have a trusting relationship, which is crucial for a relationship to last a long time -- believe me on this.
It was established he cannot help her on the test; on the other hand, her ex was the best choice in all other aspect, except on the personal past they have. This is where the trust come in. I'm okay with this part. It shows growth and a foundation of their love, albeit a bit controversy and not completely necessary.

But the broke up part though... I really can't find support for it other than unnecessary, shoe-horned drama for the ending. I mean... it might make sense in early Heisei shoujo manga logic, but this is well in Reiwa era already.

And logic aside, it's like author want to artificially creates uncertainty in their relationship; but hello? You wrote it so that the writing was on the wall the whole time since, like, half way through Vol. 1 even if I were to be very conservative about it, that these two will ended up together, a single subversion 10 volumes later can mean 2 things:
1. it's a nothing burger and unnecessary; or
2. you want to ruin the whole series and for the fanbase to send you death threat.
If there was an established love triangle and the only thing preventing the love rival from taking the win was the fact they already date, then sure, maybe this could ramp up some tension with a sliver of justifiable reason to progress it this way but there aren't such things.

The ending is cute in its own way, but the last stretch of build up is quite a piece of work.

how was
the ex tutor the best choice???? like can't they just get any other god like tutor? I legit don't understand how the author could make it so he was the ONLY option???
also yea I haven't read this in a LONG time so after reading the spoilers I'm really glad I dodged all the BS

"Really squint" is doing a lot of heavy lifting there...
Dude was a groomer who completely and utterly stunted Meguro's sexual and social development just because he wanted some easy action and thought a young kid was easy to manipulate into it. He's not even shy about where his intentions lied.
The fact the manga never addresses this as despicable and reprehensible (outside of one single extra chapter where it's still mostly brushed aside at the end) is what soured the entire thing for me.
I find it hard to believe he was the objectively best choice for the tutor role when he wasn't even shown to be a particularly stellar tutor. East Asia is famous for its tutor/cram school industry so surely there was someone else on his level out there.

Let's be real, the tutor was only introduced at the end because the author was hellbent on wrapping everything up with a nice little bow on top. She wanted all the characters in the story to feel good about their past, present, and future, regardless of circumstances, even if it meant legitimizing grooming or other heinous stuff that happened. That's why Koga was a complete doormat who never criticized anything or anyone, and that's why Meguro was totally cool and even thankful with what the tutor did to her. No sane person would not react like that, but the author really wanted to have a pretty conclusion, so this is what we get.

That or the author has a NTR fetish and really enjoyed having Koga sit on the cuck chair for the last arc. We did see Meguro having sex with the tutor more times than she ever did with Koga (a grand total of zero times), so I'd say that's equally plausible with the info we got.

There was a 1 star amazon review I read on this manga that talked about another series with a similar premise to this called You Were Experienced, I Was Not: Our Dating Story, which even received an anime, and it's hilarious how it outdoes this one in every way just by having the 2 main characters trying to improve and talk things out. The protagonist actually has a libido and is naturally concerned about the girl's past experiences. They feel like normal human beings. Meanwhile Koga here is just Mr. McDreamy, accepting whatever Meguro throws his way because the author said so. They're just so artificial, so empty.
