Judging by the line "as if he could see the future" the contractor doesn't know about Mirai's foresight.
The gunman's doll looks like Meguru soo possibly a yandere situation or, as someone commented on an earlier chapter, some sort of inheritance dispute.
Honestly, if it's either of the two above, it's a little disappointing. To me that dumbs down the whole 'time travel' to a cheat skill rather than a fully fledged mystery. Then again, maybe the conversation with the mom will reveal more.

I wonder what he did to get involved - like if it was related to his father and him "getting in the way" of past events before he died, I'd understand, but it doesn't seem that way? I think the time loop stuff is more just like any regression story - it gives you context and planning time and such. I imagine the looping has at some point caused problems that he is unaware of, just like with his dad. Mom really hated that dad used loops to do SOMETHING, but imagine it was the cause of his death as well and she doesn't want him to sacrifice himself like he did - but what was that something.

I think the issue here is this is a story that isn't a mystery story, and more a thriller. If it was a mystery series, they'd have interrogated the suspect, gotten some cryptic information and clues but more confusion for readers to try to solve the puzzle, but instead we get the more dramatic situation.

yeah it's one of those dumb "mysteries" that's not really a mystery, you are not suppose to figure it out. it just going to be a GOTCHA!

Unknown relative? The guy in the call being unaware of time traveling doesn't exclude the guy with the actual grudge against Mirai being a time traveler (that got foiled by Mirai/his dad, somehow)

Mirai wanted to save the man "falling" from building when he was little right? wouldn't it just be that guy trying to off himself that mirai saved? and hated mirai because his exit plan failed? 🤔
