When I was around 10 a pigeon came into my apartment. I was scared af and I even started to tear up. If I were to see one now I would probably be at least scared. But a bat ?? Screw maning up
Bats aren't really that scary. Caught few with bare hands. As long as you don't think that they look like a rat, you will be fine.
Other than that, it is fascinating looking at them while they are in your hand.
Last month a bat came to our house I hitted the bat with a broom, I wanted to knock it out and throw it out but I think I hit it too much hope it still alive

Honestly, it can happen anywhere that bats live; sometimes it just happens because the bat is lost, or it was trying to get away from a predator, or legitimately made a poor decision and ended up in your house and then had no idea how to get out.
I went to school where a ton of bats just sleep in some dank roof. I have to be careful not to step on bat shit whenever I go to the canteen for lunch.
