Hmm, I'm pretty sure Haibara 20 real-life years ago wasn't that talkative. She was more... cryptic? Shut-off? Anti-social?

I hate that I can tell in which volumes the scenes during the montage were from. Meanwhile, I have difficulties retaining knowledge lately.

Did Aoyama got someone else to help him out? The kids in the class in the flashback doesn't look like his artstyle...or dude's branching out..who knows.

I like the Haibara recap. It shows just how much she's changed and grown over the course of the series, and also how much the other kids have influenced her. I think it's really good to get that on a more regular case before the plot fully kicks into gear, because we are moving to the endgame whenever the plot finally comes back.

Mangaka often have assistants draw background characters, so I assume that's the reason. Though it's weird they didn't try to copy the eyes at least...

Ai-chan, having random flashbacks about your character development in random unimportant cases is how you end up dead.

Also being a long time fan really a makes you for get how stupid the important plot points and characters setting are some times. esp with the new directions the series went compared to when Ai was first introduced.

Not only would she not be that talkative, she absolutely would lied about being abused or having amnesia before admitting any hint of truth about her circumstances but she def wouldn't be putting a target on her back to stopping someone from attacking a bunch of petty criminals with Shinichis cringe ass martyr complex logic bs

unless she thought the kids or professor might be in actual danger (which they are 99% of the runtime but are never affected by what happens to them anyways)

Definitely not the first time you see this happened if you pay attention to the background characters.

In a series like this, having non-important character to have similar style with the main casts is a big no no, this to make sure readers can differentiate between who is important and who doesn't. It is intentional by design. It's not that the assistants couldn't copy/draw Aoyama's style, it's just to make a clear distinction between important characters to remember and not.
This kind of things not only applies to manga, in anime or games also have this kind of art direction and the intention is the same.

I knew it

It's something so mundane yet a coincidence that no one would mind it (from the characters's POV). Bravo Gosho.

Wonder who will connect the dots first regarding the de-aging/shrinking effect? Haibara herself? Shinichi? Sera or her mom? Rum or Vermouth?

The mention of Haibara having a cold definitely feels like a Chekhov's gun. That said, I looked back at the chapters where Shinichi and Mary shrunk, and I don't think they had colds. If they did, it was subtle enough they didn't show symptoms.

Funnily enough, I could've sworn cold medicine was somehow involved in the antidote Haibara developed. Looking it up though, I think I just got confused by how the first time he took it, there was a mixup thinking it was cough medicine. (Also found that it was revealed her dad originally worked making medicine for a defunct company, Shirahato/White Dove Pharmaceuticals, via Professor Agasa finding an old package of cold medicine when Haibara was coughing. Could be a coincidental choice since it's such a common type of medicine, but still a neat connection.)
