Wait! What? And what's with that flashback? Why do I sense some sort of time travel under plot here?

tbf the way the demons are so free to come and go baffles me.
and we are talking about they coming and going inside a big and influential family territory. that including their own house, like wtf... literally the room she was praying in, with a damned really important sword inside there. at least now if it is in the open and wide hunting grounds, that is more believable, but i feel like they are too open. and despite they knowing the demons can freely come and go, they don't seem worried or hurried, like having a picnic in the park carries to trouble.
robbing them senseless seems so easy, killing them all too. if they went and killed anyone but the mc, would such family really survive?
we saw very little reaction too, despite such move being literally an attack to the 'political regime'.
there seems to be very little capable people and very little concern about such attacks (at least not as much as i would expect from something equivalent to terrorism).
i wonder how long their history is, because i would be surprise if the demons really failed in the long run.
the author choices baffles me.
