Honestly, the brother and mother make me angry. They watch her beat herself up, grind herself down, and just don't suffer any consequences for it. Especially the mother. Her insecurities are basically all due to her mother's blatant favouritism, leaving her daughter hating herself, and somehow that's all just fine and shit.
And the brother too, if he's worried about his sister, don't just take her on some trip, TALK to her!

MC getting distracted in her studies because of her feelings for the guy is so cliche. And annoying. It's just that why do they always make the girls seem weak-minded. I mean what character progress do authors want to show with this? Okay rant over.

I concur. Cliches aren't all bad, they are cliches for a reason, but the weak-minded girl who gets lost in emotions is overplayed and outdated. We've just been here far too many times.
I'm personally getting annoyed with every shoujo protagonist blushing after every single thing. I suppose it never bothered me before, but now it's making my eye twitch and my head ache. Are girls so frightened and easily shaken ALL the time?

Normally i would agree (because in most situation it's usually the parents' fault for comparing and favoritism.
But in this story, i see the mother actually had tried to talk to the MC, that she doesn't need to overstudy, that they are okay with whatever result she got. Heck, they (mother and brother) actually never compare her with her brother (like saying, why you can't be as good as your brother, etc). The problem is, the MC keeps being defensive and keeps it to herself. The MC never speaks clearly what she thinks, we as a reader can understand her thoughts just because we are 3rd person. How can the family understand that there is something wrong when they already tried to speak with her, but she kept rejecting their offer? In this chapter, the mother looks honestly glad because she finally can see that MC is enjoying school.
Well tldr, i guess this is just lack of communication from the MC's side

@tenayuki I partly agree with you, but favorism is not only about comparing. For example in 1st chapter it was stated that her mother went to her brother inauguration and even made plenty of pogotos while she didn't bother to show up at MC inauguration and the moment MC came home mother started to talk about her brother. Or when mother was talking about MC not having to study so much she said something like "your brother enjoyed school life". It was show that her Mother loves her and cares but such actions makes one's feels ignored and less important. It's not obvious comparing but it's not being fair.

Hmmm that confession was cute. And I think he'd be good for self confidence. But why do I feel like nagging thing at my chest. Hmmmm
Many thanks

Right, she does not outright compare the siblings, but I suppose what I mean is more that the mother shows little to know interest in her "lesser" non-genius child. Normally, if you have a kid who constantly shuts herself off and works herself hard every night, who never really smiles or takes a break or has fun, as a parent you'd at least bother and do... something. Anything. And it seemed to me like the brother noticed too, despite not being home much, and feels bad about the situation, but again, while he at least makes an effort and tries to take his sister out, he not once actually said anything of importance.
I was really hoping for ML to push MC to scream her feelings out, but considering there is only one chapter left, I think this will end in a waste of a very interesting premise.

TO CUTE!
I do think the way her studying is portrait is a bit inconsistent, I do wish she was just good on her own without needing his help in that way, but still very cute.

ah I agree with you. I really want to see her being pushed by the MC and finally let people know what she's really feeling but I guess it won't happen.
@MaChani
thank you for reminding me. I missed that part.

I still feel sorry for her , she should give up on being number one in class like her brother and just learn normaly even if she won’t get good grades ... clearly studying is not her forte and in order to get a decent score she needs to devote herself solely on class work and don’t have a life outside of it which is a sad way of living life ... i hope she can find a way to enjoy life from now on
