tl;dr no one would buy them, if they didn't have exclusives. Except the switch maybe, since it's portable easy to play together with friends.

PC is NOT a platform.
Consoles themselves are actually basically downgraded very specific and limited computers.
The other way around that means that PC is a highly superior console with far more features than any normal console.
Therefore PC would actually have the right to participate, too.

No, PC 100% is a platform and not a console.
You are correct that consoles are basically a limited computer / PC just like a mobile phone would be.
But that limitation is the reason consoles are not commonly considered true platforms while a PC and a mobile phone are.
It is in fact also the reason we call them consoles in the first place.
Also i have to point out that every PC is a computer, but not every computer is a PC.
You have to keep the things seperate.
If you want to be all buthurt about definitions then you can consider a gaming console as a platform.
The dictionary definition of platform is pretty much anything that can run software.
Even a web-browser can be a platform by the baseline definition of platform as the browser can run add-ons.
But then pretty much any electronic nowadays is going to be considered a platform, even a toaster and a microwave.
So yeah the dictionary definition is outdated just like computer laws in 99 % of the worlds countries.
What we are talking about are gameing consoles, and they are a specific set of hardware and software combined made for playing games.
A PC is not limited to the type of hardware and software that you run on them and is a much broader term just like computer is a even broader term then PC.
Every Xbox is allways going to have the same hardware and software than any other Xbox, but that is not true for a PC.
Every console is spesifically made to play games on, but that is not true for every PC.
Every console ( of the same type ) is going to look the same, but again that is not true for every PC.
