The page isn't loading, but I assume you mean chapter 27.1, page 10. As for you question, I quote: "Economic losses brought on by the war far surpassed any damage caused by mechanical intelligence taking jobs". It's about as clear cut as can be, even though I find the second part of the sentence to be sophistry (since if their society was anything like ours then the economy as a whole wouldn't be damaged by that, just the already vulnerable people).Oh you werent the one who linked the chapter

Note how this entire page explains how little casualties and physical fighting actually happened. What is this 'ravages of war' you speak of?
nothing implies thisIf that were the case, no war would even be possible. They had to be able to keep the enemy from their systems. However, an actual AGI civilization is simply insurmountable by a biological one, unless there's a massive technological imbalance in the organics' favour. They have only one real need, energy, which you wouldn't be able to deny them when they're spacefaring.
Unless some wacky unknown physics are involved, that's the only real way to do it. Something like a space ship, even unmanned would stand out heat production-wise against the background of space.
I don't think you're sticking to the topic, bro. We are talking about what is clearly AGI in a fictional setting, not whether it's related to real world LLMs or even if it's possible to create (which is far from a settled matter). It's pretty obvious that if AGI can exist, it would not be based on the tech of current chatbots, but your statement about "intelligence" is problematic, because it isn't even clear what is really meant by that. If you mean the capacity for creative thought, then an AGI civilization does not have to have more of that than humanity to utterly curb-stomp us, the speed at which it would operate and the efficiency of it's logistics (due to simpler needs) alone would do that. As for energy requirements, outside of the craziest models (which set things up in such a way that it rises exponentially and would outpace the total energy available in the galaxy in a few hundred years), they wouldn't be an issue - it's an FTL spacefaring "race" of machines, they can expand von Neumann style and set up harvesting installations around every star in reach, essentially getting all they could need and any opponent would run itself ragged trying to destroy those only to see them pop up again, like mushrooms after a rainy day.nothing implies this
in fact we don't even know if above-human capability AGI is possible.
as it stands, humans are the most intelligent things around.
humans also have a lot of basic information about the world that comes built in. the ability to predict physical movement, walk around, manipulate the world, etc all comes with the system.
brains are still the best sources of intelligence, and current "AI" is a pattern matching machine that is horrifically inefficient, compared to the something like 90% efficient human body. to put it simply, mother nature's tech is about 10 times anything else.
A true AGI civilization based on current tech would... require massive amounts of resources to expand and massive energy requirements.
Not exactly because the Krishna comes with three layers of shields and even those three layers can be instantly recharged with five shield cells that, as long as they worked as intended, could instantly recharge the shields and you'd be completely back in action until they need to be refilled back at the hangar. In the time it took her to say all she did, she could have said "10%", "30%", or "70%", which would have been a lot more informative than "we're good". Everyone on board already knew they weren't a cloud of debris, so "we're good" brings no new information.
This. Not exactly because the Krishna comes with three layers of shields and even those three layers can be instantly recharged with five shield cells that, as long as they worked as intended, could instantly recharge the shields and you'd be completely back in action until they need to be refilled back at the hangar.
So do we call those three layers 300%? How about multiple shield cells?
Hiro's tactics used to be to fight until he's down to last shield cell at which point he retreats. So as long as he didn't hear about any shield cell loss, it's good. Besides he asks about how fast the shields are going down as the crystal's laser beams aren't really that strong and it was the crystal's charge attacks that could whittle down the shields in just seconds in case he made a mistake and allowed one to smash into him.
So as long as they're not hit by anything large and there's not many crystal beams focusing on them and their shield cells are still full, they're good!![]()
Never fly what you cannot afford to lose. – Not-EVENever fly without a rebuy! – Not-Elite
They are in the middle of battle with a fleet of armies and mercenaries., a single NEW MAIN order for a massive army will raise doubt and questions, giving high chance of failure without a proper briefing.IDK why he can't call Serena, like:
Lhutenent Serena delay the next phase theres is to many small crystal ship out there, is we spread out now, the defense off the back line will be inpossible
They are still in the middle of battle, a quick report of WE GOOD or WE BAD is effective enough to give a proper idea on how to proceed. If I ever command a futuristic spaceship and ask for shield loss ratio, I'm probably going to want more details than "we're good".

Also wise. And I do know our beloved author's cribbing from multiple games. (I even saw some R-Type creep into the LNs recently, if I'm not mistaken.)Never fly what you cannot afford to lose. – Not-EVE
Elma's console has the shield cells if I recall, so she'd likely be calling out she fired one.If it wasn't good, she'd call out "bingo shields"
Wasn't meant as a my interpretation vs. yours. Plenty of disk space for both games to be installed. It's just that
True. I didn't mean to come off as argumentative.Wasn't meant as a my interpretation vs. yours. Plenty of disk space for both games to be installed.
bc humans are naive prideful dum dum xDIDK why he can't call Serena, like:

they didnt, all they fight are basically just a crystal lifeform's scouts ~This part makes no sense. The empire has fought the crystal lifeforms many times. These soldiers in particular, being stationed at a defensive line exclusively dealing with such enemies, should know first hand what the small ones are capable. A decision that would put the entire fleet in danger of being heavily damaged, encircling too soon, seems too amateurish for these seasoned professionals.
lol. now i missed Elite. been 2 years since i last booted it up, my FC probably is gone now. sadge.Sidewinder of Shame.
